I recently bought a 1995 C4. It has the third light recessed on the top of the back window, and Drive Block. I took it to a Porsche Mechanic, and he said it has the features of a 1996, without the vibroram. It has a "special manufacture" code on the option list, but it doesn't detail what this means. Any one have a clue?

I think that special manufacture code is on all the car in US (not 100% sure), at least my car has it.
You could check all your option codes (you can found them under the hood or in you manual) at Robin's site (www.p-car.com), there are other places for that as well.
Those -96 features are 'normal', later -95 cars had them (even though you don't have varioram).
I have -95 (quite late) with later type heater, -96 sport seats, -95 3rd brake light and drive block... There are many variations...
The change to the '96-style 3rd brake light seems to have been made with cars built around March '95 -- I've seen cars built in that month with both styles. My May '95-built car has the '96 style light and the Drive-Block.
Here's pic of my engine, this is what new style heater looks like ('those boxes' on left).
I couldn't find pics of old style but you can searc from 964 forum, 964s have that heater.
Basically, if your heater boxes don't look like mine (& looks sort of older style), they are the 964 type.
FF,
Thanks. Now I know exactly what you're talking about -- the early 993s don't have the extension with the rubber gasket that meets the underside of the engine lid, correct? My car is like yours.
BTW, very clean engine! I haven't seen mine much lately -- it was -2F last night, and the road salt is so thick it makes me cry. <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />
