'98 C2S has developed the well-known windshield squeak, especially in cold weather. Archive search describes various fixes, including Pedro's Ice Wax; felt and rope gaskets, etc. Apparently there is a Porsche Technical Svc. Bulletin addressing this problem. My question: will warranty (either original factory or extended "certified car" warranty) cover a lasting fix for this? Anyone with dealer experience with this problem?

I think that Bullet is for windshield rust, not for this.
FYI, I had this problem also & tried with Pedro's.
First it didn't help (only for few days/weeks), the I re-did it so that I really lifted the seal up and sprayed lots of it and made sure the 'stuff' filled the groove well.
Since that, no squeaks!

Bulletin is exactly for this, but for 996s! Everything you need is in the archives, including the TSB number.
The dealer will likely want to reseal the window, which will not work (unless they use the foam cord from the TSB, soaked in silicon). Spray Pedros or the equivalent, clean up the excess and you're set (going on 8 months for me with no squeaks)

My experience is the same as Chris'. Did mine with Pedros many, many months ago and not a single squeak.

Burt,
There is a Porsche Service Bulletin specifically for the front and rear window "creaks". It advises to install the foam "rope" and soak with water.
I don't have a copy of the SB here at the office, but call or email "www.schatzmotorsport.com" and they will be glad to fax you a copy.
I had the creak in the front and rear windows. Solution was:
1) Buy the foam "rope" kit from Schatz. It is a factory part number in factory packaging.
2) Install (stuff it in) the rope under the front and rear window rubber trim, per the SB instructions.
3) Soak with Pedros before, during and after. Pedros seems to work better than the silicone spray that Schatz offers. I can't see how water would work at all.
I found it easier to just pull out the rubber trim front and rear to gain access to the channel where the foam rope has to go.
I repeat the Pedros soaking every 6 mos or so.
Same result as FF, no creaks.
I can't imagine this is worth pursuing with the dealer. Not worth the time or aggravation.

I am having a almost light buzz sound from my window area. I didn't think it was the seal and nothing is loose around the window or dash area. At first I thought it was the clock does this sound like the window squeak everyone is having or have I developed a new "buzz" from somewhere??

Got the foam cord from Schatz with the tsb. Instaled it with silicon spray. It stopped creaking but came back during the California cold weather. I also notice some stain on the rubber seal which I think probably was from the silicon.
The procedure said to put 2 layers on the sides but it wasn's possible for me due to the limited space under there.

I haven't used "the rope" solution because I figured I'd try the simplest thing first: spraying Pedros.
As I indicated in my previous post, it's been good for some time now, and is easily the least amount of effort. Did I just get lucky?
