Cab Top Question
Hello All,
I have been lurking around this site for a short while and have gained a wealth of knowledge from reading your posts - you guys (and gals) are amazing.
I have decided to finally begin my quest for my dream car. I am looking at a '97 993 cab with about 28000 miles and noticed a creaking with the top up in the upper right of the windshield area. Is this just something that can be fixed or lubed. The owner claims no accidents.
TIA
Tom

Mine's been doing that on and off since I bought it, 2 1/2 years ago. Someone said that means the locking motor on that side will go out soon but mine still working fine...try this, when you raise and lock the top to the windshield, hold the button until it's completely locked. If it helps let us know, I just thought of this...
btw, welcome to the board

mine has a creak on occasion. I think it changes each time the top goes down and up. Maybe the seal at the front changes each time it goes up and down. Definitely could be adjusted...I just learned about the adjustments for the forward movement on mine when I had the top replaced. First time I put the top down...went down great...when putting it up...the front locks didn't even catch the grooves. They had adjusted the bolt in the back to make the top go down farther but that stopped it from going far enough forward.
I wouldn't worry about it.

I slip my fingers under the headliner trim and pull down gentlly to manually assist and guide the top closure just before it locks. No more creaks, less wind noise due to uneven seal opposition from the top to the triangular window. Don't think this harms the motors.
