Default Starting issue??? Or?

My car starts fine 80% of the time. Occasionally it sound like a weird weak spinning, but I'm not sure the engine is turning over?

Is it the starter going out or the solenoid? If solenoid... is that replaced separately?

Anyone experience this?

Have you checked your 12V battery? I drive my car maybe once or twice a week but had hard time starting up sometimes before. Now I keep it on battery tender and the car crank up every time now! Just a thought...

Good point... I drive it once every week or 2. I usually use a booster to start it, bc it's kept at the office.

Fingers crossed that's the issue. I'll drive it a few days in a row to see what happens.

Could be battery or starter w those symptoms. How many miles on the car?

What you are hearing is the starter running but it may not be spinning fast enough for the pinion to engage the flywheel due to low battery voltage. Take the car to the local Autozone etc and they will check the battery health by measuring the voltage drop under starting load.

At 6 years old, your battery is on borrowed time.

I would recommend removing & cleaning ALL of the battery cables to clean the clamps & posts as well as the ground attachment points: front AND rear.

The battery ground strap on my 944 looked ok but it was the cause of several electrical gremlins including no starts. Now fitted with heavy duty one from a truck.
