Throttle Position Sensor Circuit?
CEL light came on a couple of days ago and I just wanted to see if anyone is familiar with these two codes.
1) P1124 - Throttle position sensor out of self test range
2) P1126 - Throttle position (narrow range) sensor circuit malfunction
Should I take it to the mechanic or is there something I can do?
Thanks so much for the help,
Matthew

i'm assuming you have a 96+ car (obd ii). that sounds like the adjustment on the throttle body for the throttle cable. I would check that by making sure your WOT is really WOT on the Throttle body and the converse is true at idle. If that checks out ok - then I would reset the code. If it comes back it is likely that the electronics on the side of the throttle body are faulty.
that's my guess - but hopefully someone else can give you a more difinitive answer.
cheers,
boris

boris, you are correct '96 C2. Thanks so much for the quick response, but now I have two questions for you:
1) what does "WOT" mean?
2) How will I be sure my "WOT" is really "WOT"?
Again, thanks.

WOT - wide open throttle.
check by having someone floor the accelerator (the car should be off) while you are in the back of the car. There is a spring on the side of the throttle body with a cable. As the cable pulls the lever it applies the accelerator and opens the throttle body flap. make sure that you can not push the lever any further. If that is ok and your idle is ok (meaning idling normally) and the lever is resting in its back position - then you have passed the check.
