Hi fxrdoc,

I think you've just passed through the "Five Stages of 'Upgrade' Bereavement":

1) Denial: I think 315's will fit on the rear of my 993 ("...it might look good and perhaps handle better with the larger footprint")

2) Anger: "Would sure be nice if I could get ONE straight forward answer to a simple question. Will they fit or not? I ask for help...then get crapped on."

3) Bargaining: "...Tire rack. They recommend an 18X11.5 rear wheel but with the stock size tire. They never recommend larger sizes, even if they will fit. We all know a 295 should without a problem. The next size up is a 315. That would fit the 11.5 rim no problem, but would it rub with stock suspension, no rolled fenders?"

4) Depression: "From the info i am getting here, sounds like tire rack may be sending me in the wrong direction with that 11.5 wheel."

5) Acceptance: "From what I gather here, it wouldn't be prudent, nor would it help performance any. I'll stick with the stock size...I guess the porsche boys knew what they were doing when they settled on that size."

Have a great day, and welcome to the board! Glad to have you!

Very nice Anir!
It also nicely corresponds with Gartner Group's curve regarding the acceptance of new technology:

"Tire Rack recommends the 11.5 rim with the 285 tire for the C2S."

My car came with 11 inch Speedlines with 285 P0s, and frankly, the wheel looks a bit too wide for the tire. I would suggest staying with 10 inch wheels with that tire size.

That was very clever of you to bid the wheels on e-bay at the very last seconds.

So, what are you going to do with 2 set of wheels?

Enjoy the BBS LM.

Peace!

Ron,

hope I didn't pull that one out from under you. I never did buy the 11.5 wheels because of the advise I received here. Instead, I went with the BBS and plan on using stock size tires.

My currant track set up is 315x645x18 Pirelli slicks on 11" BBS with no fender roll and no rub.
I've seen 12" Fiske used with this tire combo and the fenders need to be rolled.
Lot's of neg camber will help but not very practical on the street. But then neither are 315's. Good Luck

Thought you had retired, RS - Gartner Group charts, indeed !! This is a Porsche board, some of us come here to get away from IT and the inevitable slideware!

Cheers, Maurice

Actually, you did. That's okay, at least a rennlister gets the wheel intead of someone else.

My friend is trying to hook me up for a new set.

Enjoy!
