Laser Jammer?
Anyone plunked down the $$$ for a Lidatek Laser Jammer yet?
Saw a bunch of police being trained on Laser usage last weekend. They were all local police (City of Tampa, Dade City, Pasco County, etc.) and said that they have not deployed Laser yet.....just getting certified. Must be coming, though.
My V-1 gave me about 1/5 of a mile warning.... probably wouldn't of saved me if I was crusising.
Anyone used a jammer, yet?

Hi Curtis, I believe there are plenty of threads on this subject, with a recent discussion that was quite lengthy and technical. The resulting consensus was that there isn't a laser jammer on the market worth the investment. Many are cheap and useless, others are costly not to mention illegal in certain states (if caught) and still lacking and definitive evidence of their effectiveness. The diffuesr license-plate covers are somewhat effective but the new lasers are more effective and can use any flat surface of the car so if it's not aimed at your plate your are defensless; however, the 993 is sort of stealthy probably making it more difficulty to target.
If you get a ticket, send lawyers and money and you'll find a way out.

Actually, I read all the threads I could find. Didn't seem like anyone posting had actually used one of the "active" jammers. Many were considering it and several had friends that had one.
I was just checking to see if anyone had gone for it yet. There are a handfull of online test results that would indicate they are somewhat effective.
As to cost, most of the units are in the $300-400 range which, to me, is much more cost effective than either paying the ticket, insurance, and hassle or paying an attorney to defend.
Ray will now insert testimony on the effectiveness of CB Radio.
Anyway, just looking for real world experience.
Have a great weekend everyone....off to the Brumos Historics at Daytona!

Thought that "active" jammers are illegal (remember reading that re radar; Laser might be different).

YES!!! I found the test results even before I posted. As my posts indicated (three times now), I'm merely trying to hear from someone who has actually used one. I'd trust opinions from folks here more than I would unknown "testers."

I have the Lidatek's predecessor the Target LE850.
Like the Lidatek this uses the same Gallium Arsenide laser that the majority of Police Laser detectors do.

I have only had a couple of deffinate laser "hits" during the 2yrs I've had it fitted but both times I would almost certainly have received a ticket.
In the UK getting caught doing more than 100mph on the motorway gets you a driving ban these days.
Thery're NOT strictly illegal in the UK... yet, but as the UK's policy to increase road safety is to slow all vehicles to a crawl rather than educate drivers and pedestrians to understand why they are have accidents and imporve their driving, I expect jammers and ALL speed detection devices to be made illegal soon.

I have a K-40 built in diffuser and it seems to be useless. Just use my V1 and have a car in front of me, so hopefully they hit the car in front of me first. As great the V1 is, if you are caught with laser it is too late.

Mark...... "Thou does protest to much".... Your referenced site seems a little lacking in regards to actual controlled testing and specific data as to the effectiveness of such jamming devices (i.e. # of false positives and # of actual runs without a speed registering on a gun, nor is the type of laser gun noted). I'm was more impressed by the salesmanship of the writer than his/her knowledge of a jamming device. It would seem to me that they are hit or miss at best and not worth the investment and legal ramifications (in the US) if caught with such a device. To each his own .... I'll stay with the V1 and take my chance on laser tag.

I'm still interested in some real world usage notes.....
As to legality, they've been specifically outlawed in only a handful of states. In the other states, they would have to charge you with obstruction or interfering with an officer.
Anyway, I'm on the verge of trying the newer Lidatek unit. It seems like the best package so far....

Sounds like an expensive and risky proposition just to avoid a speeding ticket. I'd rather drive my car, enjoy its' feel and sound than worry about the red lights in my mirror and potential legal charges (obstruction and FCC violations) than a simple speeding ticket. To each his ...... Happy motoring.

I do get false positives from "pulse" lamps as fitted to certain emergency vehicles, particularly Fire tenders??, other than that only genuine Police laser speed detectors seem to set it off.

The tests were carried out using Prolaser II and an LTI 20-20 laser speed detectors.
LE850 jammers were fitted to a Mistbishi Shogun and a Kawasaki motorcycle.
Several runs were attempted and a speed could not be determined by either "gun".
Testing on the Lidatek LRC100 was done with an LTI 20-20 (if the picture is correct) and was carrried out at 2000ft, 1500ft, 1000ft, 500ft and 200 ft ranges. At all ranges no speed could be obtained using the "gun".
Used in conjunction with a good detector and a GPS speed camera (fixed) locator, IMO the laser jammer offers the ultimate protection.

Just to concur with Mark C's comments about the LE850.
I have 1 on my tt and 2 on my other car (front and rear 'cos now they get you from behind, sitting up slip roads)
I am convinced they work on UK lasers. I was "lasered" coming into a 40 mph zone right next to my house so I parked in my drive way and went for a chat with the officer who was a guy in his mid 20's. After some small talk I realised he wasn't a draconian "all speed kills" type and I asked him what speed I was doing, the officer laughed and said "funny you asked 'cos I got an error message when I tried to laser you". the officer wanted to know what I had fitted so he could get one on his car.
