OK, I bought the Lidatek ECHO 20 laser jammer. The technology and the sales pitch are convincing, obviously. I have not installed it yet. I am running into problems mounting the transponder and running the wiring into the cockpit of the car. Has anyone done this on a 993? I'll probably go to a professional for installation unless a Rennlister can help. Then I'll be gald to review the Jammer.

Tom,
Did you get one transponder or two? I was planning on mounting them in the grill...I figured I'd try adhesive tape first, then move to a bracket if that didn't work.
Keep us posted on how it works...

Curtis, I got one transponder after talking with the Lidatek people. We have front plates here in OH. John Law generally uses this as his target.
The transponder must be mounted perfectly horizontally. I too think that the adhesive should be OK for mounting, but I don't want to drill holes to get the wiring back into the car from the grill. If anyone has figured out the mounting and the wiring routing, let me know.
Thanks...and drive carefully.

Tom,
I mounted my LE850 by bolting it to the plastic grill in the center just below the top of the top half. The grill is located by many plastic "lugs" and simply pops out.
You can remove he grill completely by removing the lower corner of the front PU and carefully sliding the grill to the left side and out.
I managed to install with no drilling as follows....
I routed the wire from the jammer to the left side of the car, up past the a/c radiator and fan, up to the left headlamp recess and into the trunk though a convienient grommet.
I had first removed the left headlamp assembly, lower PU corner and front wheel arch liner to see where the best route would be.
Once in the trunk, I routed the wire through another grommet in the bulkhead so that it entered the passemger compartment just above the pedal board. From there on it's easy
I can take some pictures if you need.
Cheers

Mark,
Thanks for the information. Knowing that your installation was generally what I wanted to do is helpful. I will get on this project, pull my grill, and get the wiring routed as you suggest.
Can you recall where you positioned the female transponder plug that mates-up with the plug for the wiring that goes into the cab?...and just what is the PU?

Tom,
I've just checked the picture of the kit on Lidatek's web site, the connection looks differant to that of my LE850.
The LE850 has a single continuous wire with a male connector on the end from the transponder which plugs into a small control box located inside the cabin. This box contains an On/Off button, warning lamps and the audible alarm.
Looks like you'll have plenty of excess wire to "lose" and I'd suggest it would be easier to do this in the trunk rather than the cabin. On this basis the join would be better of in the trunk.
The PU is the whole front fender/spoiler/nose section. PU is a Porsche term but I'm not sure what it's short for, Plastic Unit???
Cheers
