GT3 Muffler Setups

GBX, I think we spoke on IG. I'll add my 2 cents here and say that yes it will make more power but probably isn't worth it for a street car. I had my headers built w/gt3 muffler because I will be running a stroker crank (80.4mm), lw pistons & rods, proper cams, itb's, and ecu etc in the future. If not, I would have continued to use my stock gillet headers(with heat), fabspeed sportcat xpipe connected to Fister3 mufflers. That setup made more power than stock, sounds epic and retains the factory heat exchangers which are better than any heater boxes on race headers imo.
Having said all that Butzi has built many of these gt3 header exhausts w/gt3 muffler and can make one that fits youre goals. I would recommend running some type of cats(100 or 200 cell) and like Steven said utilize both ports of the GT3 muffler with the proper valves to keep the sound levels in check. I had my builder block off the the top port and utilize the bottom port for the most flow/power.
Also note the stock headers are roughly 1.5" diameter. Most aircooled guru's will tell you that for a stock 3.6 993/964 motor driven on the street you won't want to go bigger. Most aftermarket headers step up to 1.75" diameter which will affect the low end response. My headers are 1.75" but I'm running shorter gear ratios 1st-6th, plus the party really starts at 4,000rpm anyway.
All these bolt on mods whether race headers or xpipe need an ecu flash/tune.

wow. Good to know. Is there an option with heat? Any idea on a release date?

good point. Didn’t notice that.
Wonder if they’ll have a bumper cutout solution for these tips.
also, been look at their offerings. 1 is TUV approved and uses a sport cat with pipes that cross over but stay separate and another with an x pipe. How do you think each compares in power and sound? Why do they offer both? What does TUV approval entail?

@Meenrod I inquired whether their 996 Tailpipe Center Outlet Kit somehow might work for the 993 and Michael Mergenthaler m.mergenthaler@cargraphic.de wrote back that they just developed a kit specifically for the 993. Michael can send you details.

So, must get new headers to install a gt3 exhaust is what I’m understanding. Is that so or can it be fitted with some fab work?
i have a gt3 exhaust in the garage sitting that I was thinking of installing but don’t want to spend too much money right now.
what exactly is needed?
Thank you
