Put it out on eBay with a high reserve and you will find out.

Somebody school me please...what made it flashable? Rare factory unit, or something else? Also, which part number identifies it as being flashable.
Apologiies in advance if I should know the answer to the above.

Anyone know if the 09 09 96 date on the ECU corresponds the build date of the ECU itself (as opposed to the vehicle build date on the door jamb)? Just curious. All the other numbers match the ECU on my 97.

If it were mine and I really was in a position to sell I'd start around $1500.00 , I have paid as little as $500 and as much as $1500 for various ECU's found out recently my RS 993 '95 ECU goes for $6500 on FVD a just as a reference point .
they do ask stupid prices on EBAY so that may be the route to determine a true value or just what the market can bear which may of course be no where near what's expected..
a good source for used parts prices and he's usually a bit high is Blackbyrd on Pelican he's buys and sells a lot of 911, 964, and 993 parts and was doing it
years ago at LA Dismantlers just an FYI, Bert

By "flashable 97 993 ECU," the OP simply meant to say "97 993 ECU". Nothing special about this one.

Different Porsche specialty shops, like Steve Weiner@Rennsport systems or ECU Doctors can provide various tunes to advance timing and increase horsepower and torque.
The distinct advantage of a 97 ECU, is that it works specifically with the vario-ram, as well as the OBD ll systems.
95 ECU does not have the firmware to operate with the above-mentioned systems, and 96 ecu's are not readily flashable without a piggyback board, which is proven to be less than reliable, due to cracking of the solder joints of the added board.
If I decide to sell this ECU, it will be validated and verified by a PIWIS Diagnostics tester as a completely functional ECU with no errors.
