Default 993 Tires recommendations for widebody

Looks like Michelin just added new sizes and the new PS4S is available in standard NB fitment in 18" format. Unfortunately, the wider 993 S/4S/ Turbo are not. Hopeuflly next year. Until then looking for recomendatios in 285/30/18 fitment for an S.

I just put PS2s (N3) (225/40-18 and 285/30-18) on my NB. replacing 6-7 year old Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs. WOW! so much smoother, quieter and grippier. Sure the Sumis were old and the PS2s are fresh, but even when the Sumis were new, I don't think they were as nice. They cost more than 2X the sumis too. I almost went down the Pilot SportCup2 route, as the difference was less than $100 more than the PS2s, but since my car is primarily a street car, I opted for the PS2s.

Totally happy with my decision, can't go wrong with Michelin. As I understand it, the N3 compound is the same or similar as the PS4, dunno, others may be able to confirm or deny.

Did you get the arena car Chris? I just put the Pilot Sport 4S tires on my 993. I'd go w. the Conti ExtremeContact Sport, if you need tires immediately.

PSA: eBay with Discount Tire Direct is offering $100 off orders $400 or more with coupon code PTIRES18 [Exp 10/28]. Good for wheels and tires; coupon can be used up to two times per eBay account.

What's nice about it that you don't have to buy 4 tires this time to qualify for their discount as per their usual rules. At least it seems this way.

I just put Conti ExtremeContact Sports on my C4S. Wish I had more insights, but I haven't driven it enough yet to offer any. But I did a fair bit of research and asking around and except for those who seemed to want to spend the least and wear Sumis, these were the best combination of price and overall performance.

+2
I have been a big fan of these tires for a long time and they are a terrific all arounder at a very affordable price. I have Pilot Sport 4S or Cup 2 for other cars but honestly for street driving on a 993 (not a modern super car that needs all the tire money can buy), the Continentals are not any less enjoyable than the latest and greatest Michelins IMO.
