Post 5-speed tiptronic S - I don't think so!

Just read GT Purely Porsche - a UK magazine. They're buying guide for the 993 insists that the 993 tiptronic was a 5-speed - my eyes lit up!! But, I'm sure the 5-speed tip is a 996 thing.

Either I'm wrong or they are.

If they're wrong, I don't think Ill trust the rest of their 'buying guide'

While I'm on, anyone know if the 996 5 -speed tip can be fited to either the 993 or 996???

I doubt it!

They're wrong. The 993 had a four-speed tiptronic.

They're wrong. It's a nice magazine, but I've seen a distressingly large number of mistakes in the articles.

I doubt that all the writers are Porsche enthusiasts. They probably write bout other cars too. Some of the mistakes are too obvious.

those '2' second gears is actually the torque converter locking up. You will find you get this 'phantom' gear change if you drive relatively gingerly in D, but if you floor it, there is no such change, because the torque converter has already locked up.

Thumbs down

Nice pics, rubish articles. Bought the first few but now just buying 911&Porsche world. I keep wondering if I should buy, but from above will keep my money in my pocket!

only problem with 911 and porsche world is that they seem to sell all the cars that are starting to find their way onto the covers....but at least they own porsches themselves...
