Default 993 radio lighting

I have an OEM stereo but unless it's pitch black outside, I can't see the stereo display. Is there a solution to making the back lighting brighter?

Which radio do you have? Is this a new problem?

It doesn't adjust bright enough to see during minimal daylight let alone full daylight

That radio did not come in 993s. In the Boxsters and 996 Carreras that the CDR 220 radios came in they were installed at a different (higher) position. It is an angle thing. If you look at the radio straight on you'll see the readout.

To see the readout in your 993 you have to have the face plate modified. Basically, they go from black background and yellow display to a yellow background and black letters. Becker use to do this for $50. I am not sure if they still offer this service.

Here is an old post on the subject....

Yup. If you look down at it from a steeper angle, you'll likely see the readout clearly.
At normal 993 dash/seat angle it usually ghosts.
