attn: orange county (socal) gearheads...
would anyone be interested in starting a during the week get together? Like at a pizza place or the like. Spring is here and summer soon.
If so, we can discuss a location that works for everyone.
Just a thought.

Chris,
Sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately, I'm waaaay up here in Santa Clarita (Magic Mountain), but perhaps something can come of your suggestion. I think it's cool that some of those R-listers on the "other" coast hang out together.....we could do the same. Keep me updated.

I’d be interested too, but if it’s a weekday, probably only if it could be done during lunch. This puts a big time constraint on it, though, and distance will be a big factor. I work in Costa Mesa, just down Harbor Blvd from Andial.

Tom, I was thinking of evening time. This probably doesn't work for all, but I am sure we can compromise on the time/location. Even if its a different location each month?

The Orange Coast Region has a monthly Breakfast get-together on the 1st Saturday at Hof's Hut in Tustin (60+ cars) and if nothing else is going on, a more informal Chat'n'Chew at Krispy Kremes at the Block in Orange on the 3rd Saturday, (15+ cars. Both are 8:30 AM.
Y'all are welcome, of course.
The renown Viken Bedrossian has been known to make an appearance at Hof's upon occasion.

-Pizza sounds great!
I am considering making a transition from east to west.
I was wondering, what are the good tracks near L.A.
I don't mind a few hours drive for a two day track weekend.
Also, what are the good clubs. Down here in Miami there are many. PCA, PBOC, Chin, Performance Drivers Association, Safe Motorsports, Nasafl (BMW). You can track 2-3 times a month if you have the time/$$$. Does Cali have the same opportiunities?
If I do move to Cali, I could really use some of your guys knowledge and experience of clubs..
(someone to show me the lines of Laguna Seca would be great too.)
I usually track about every 6 weeks or so. Are DE's as common out west?
Of course I'll also need to find a good shop to work on my car.
Thanks.

We can keep you busy every weekend out here in SO Cal. Our problem can be too many things in one weekend and having to choose!
In our area of So. Cal, Orange County, you have two very active PCA regions, Orange Coast and San Diego, and the Porsche Owners Club. There is something every weekend with DE events and autocrosses at Qualcomm Stadium, Irwindale Raceway, Holtville, Willow Springs.
POC has Short Track Series at Streets of Willow about every 6 weeks, with Time Trials and Cup Races inbetween at the big track at Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Las Vegas...
And these are just the Porsche clubs!
There are very active "other car" groups that love to have Porsches join them on their track days as well as many private organizations then frequent the tracks, Tracquest, Driving Concepts, NASA, ......
Get-togethers are frequent: breakfast, lunches, dinners, tech sessions, tours (race shops, private collections, manufacturers..)...
Come join us!! Remember we do have Viken, DJ, Tom R, Randall, Martin S., Roland......
And there are alot of top notch shops in So Cal!!

Now that Laura...what a peach! The OC PCA breakfast is a great event. Lot's of great people. Roland, Viken, Laura and Mark, Tom, DJ, Jason, what a crew!
I could get behind a pizza and beer bash...I'll just get an anti-DUI hotel as I have a 60 mile drive back to San Diego County.

Laura hit the nail on the head....way too much to do in So Cal. There is ALWAYS something going on car related and the people are great! Want to drive your Porsche with the Alfa guys at one of their track events...no problem. Want to go with the Pantera club? again, no problem.
I just wish I had more time for all the "fun runs", morning get togethers and everything else. I have to pick and choose carefully because my wife is not into it AND my son is too young.

Chris,
hi, i'm new here but i've been watching this board for quite sometime now...
a SoCal get together sounds like a good idea. i'm all for it. Weekday nights are good but would prefer weekend though...But let's wait and see what other guys think.

Hey Phil,
I'm not definately moving but it looks like a real strong possibility.
I'll know in the next week or two. Thinking about Santa Monica..
I look forward to meeting you too. Why do I suspect that you and I are going to get in some trouble together .
Maybe it's because we're always getting <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
for our sarcastic nature and frequent <img src="graemlins/offtopic.gif" border="0" alt="[offtopic]" /> posts !
I will certainley looking for some friendly Pcar owners to lead me through some of the back road twisties out west. And of course, someone to paddock with at DE's!!
