Maybe a dumb question...but why do you guys want a rear seat delete? Weight, appearance, utility?

Probably, because it is rare, nothing else.

Weight advantage would be to leave the space empty, appearance is in the eye of the beholder, but seat backs down and a mat from lloyd is very attractive (ask me how I know), and utility? You have pretty much the same degree of uselessness in my opinion. What can you put in there you can't put anywhere else?

But again "I have one and you don't"

Seriously, to each his/her own, it's not our money, and this is a hobby for most of all, if not all. ENJOY IT!!

FWIW, RSD weighs more, not less, than having the regular ol' back seats option

For me, it's low on the priority list but was on because having no rear seat makes the car eligible for the carpool lane when I have a passenger. In addition to the appearance factor. And, frankly, it just seems more honest to me: my son sat in the back until he was 10 or 11 but once he didn't fit there what was the purpose of those seats?

Mine's already in. Perfect, snug, "factory" fit. Took about 3 hours total to remove rear seats and install the RSD. I had some black aftermarket trunk carpeting and used the seat bottoms as a template to cut two pieces, then glue place before the RSD went in. I'm going to look for some black luggage straps with roller buckles to give it a "356" retro look. The two compartments afford ample space to stow a variety of items away from prying eyes. Just another slide down the "slippery slope".

I'd love to see pictures of the finished project if you have time!

I dont like stuff laying around in my interior. The RSD swallows a lot of stuff. Tools, windshield sunshade, tire repair kit, jacket, glass cleaner, wine, etc.....

I added RSD to my 96 Cabrio in 98. One of the benefits here in Northern California is it is now a two seater, which qualifies for car pool lanes with one passenger.

Wow! Thanks for sharing, I did not know that. My 993 with RSD just went up in value! :-)

Don't go to Boston often, but only 1 passenger in a car qualifies for use of the HOV lane there, regardless of how many seats.

One passenger in a two-seater qualifies in California -- that's why, among other reasons, I have a two-seater (the yellow car) and am putting a RSD in the 993.......

I'm fairly certain that, in SoCal anyway, one only needs to have the driver and one passenger to qualify for HOV lanes, regardless of how many seats the car has, no?
