1997 993 A/C Code (573)
Hello Everyone,
Posting my first Rennlist posting so if the topic is inappropriate for this forum or if the topic has been discussed in the past, please let me know. I tried to search for it but wasn't able to find one.
I am looking into 993s and noticed option code (beneath the hood) 573 is designated for A/Cs. Most of the cars I've seen had compressors right next to the cooling fan with A/C looking buttons on dash without having the 573 code listed. I read 993 is not known for good A/Cs but are most of the cars not equipped with A/C with some air circulation system mimicking A/C? Or do they come with A/C as a base but the code 573 noting advanced A/C system? I got confused the A/C looking system even without the code.
Appreciate your consideration on asking a somewhat basic question.

I don't see option code 573 for mine but I have ac. Ive never come across info to indicate there was a factory upgrade option that would have a code. Maybe usa it was standard, but ROW it was an option? I've never touched mine since buying and it blows cold. Seeme like if you live somewhere hot it has a reputation for struggling but here in MI it can get decently warm and I've never thought the ac could not cut it.
I see this "Option Code 573 Description: 210KW Retrofit kit for 993 M64.05/06" Not sure what it refers to.
Saw this:
993.100.904.00 is 210 Kw/282 BHP retrofit Tequipment kit for M64.05/06 *with* M573 air conditioning

I have found a car with this option and it is not a regular A/C but 1. Digital Climate Control Panel: Located on the dashboard, the electronic air conditioning unit usually has a small display and buttons or ***** that allow you to adjust the temperature, fan speed, and vent settings. It provides more precise control over the interior climate compared to the manual system.
2. Control Layout: You would typically find buttons for:
• Temperature control (set in degrees)
• Fan speed adjustment
• Airflow direction (e.g., feet, face, windshield)
• Recirculation mode and defrost options
