The car has original paint, Im going to replace the stone guards for sure. My question is should I have the front clip resprayed to take care of the stone chips and then 3m it or should I leave it as is. I know its only original paint only once but is it that BIG of a deal?

congrats, I was bidding against you

I was planning to leave the imperfections. Drive the car, leave it original!! I had an 87 m491 cab, some scratches, stone chips..... original looks best IMO.

enjoy!

One could spot check the feasibility of this by purchasing a spray can of clear urethane and try it on a test patch area on the front edge of the bumper cover.
that’s above my pay grade

Congrats on the purchase!
^^ +1. Find a reputable shop that knows how to color match well. For sure fill the bumperettes at that time. Turbo S fogs look really nice on a turbo body cars/S Cars. Who cares it was resprayed! It will look way nicer when done. That car is NICE! You'll enjoy this one. Arena Red is a sweet color!

A beautiful car in a stunning color! I would definitely have the front clip resprayed and have the stone guards replaced.

Default Chip and tale

Min. 30 days after respray for Xpel. Looks like it may take 30 days to get those stone guards off. Yikes from personal experience.

I might touch up the chips and replace the stone guards, but I would never respray a bumper.

For the amount of chips he has, touch-up is not going to be a great look.

IMHO, people who do wont re-paint are concerned about re-sale or want to keep the car as original as possible. I think that approach applies to pristine low mileage cars, but not a driver like this. From what I have seen, re-spray doesn't appear to impact re-sale significantly if it is well documented and not due to an accident. So with that said, get the stone guards replaced, respray the front clip by a reputable painter, clear bra, and enjoy!

original paint only really matters for resale if the car is minty and asking high dollar, that's a driver's car, do with it as you please. enjoy.

My '95 has her share of chips, but maybe not as many. I'm in the school that if it was made to be closer to perfect, then she may spend more time in the garage than she does now. I'm sure the owner block from days gone by would chuckle over the worries about chips, rain, miles, etc, occurring these days. Heck, I was even thinking of washing mine when I get down to Rennsport next week, but came to my senses on that.

The bumper doesn't look bad... I would just spray the lip and clear bra the bumper/lip after to prevent more chips.
