Another suspension datapoint. When combining the following parts:
PSS9 kit
ROW M030 sway bars
Jim Morton's custom rear strut hat (sourced from Steve Weiner)
There's a fitment problem with the rear sways. The ROW droplinks are too long (and one of the bolts is too short anyway), and even the shorter Bilstein droplinks are too long - by perhaps 1/2". The apparent reason for this is that the custom strut hat pushes the strut ~3/8" lower relative to the tub & rear suspension. At the moment, the easiest outcome is looking like cutting ~1/2" out of the center of the Bilstein droplinks & welding them back up. I'll know more Thursday/Friday of this week.
Looks like this is new information, since the other buyers of the PSS9 kit & the custom strut hat have opted for the RS sways -- which are designed to be used w. much longer droplinks & route the bar *below* the lower rear control arm. The ROWM030 sway can't be routed below the control arm; doing so results in the center of the bar clanking against the crankcase.
EDIT: 9/14/2003 -- Should have updated this much sooner! My experiment with cutting down the stock droplinks was a failure. Rather than risk heat damage from welding, my mechanic threaded the cut ends of the droplink into a sleeve. One of the droplink shafts snapped pretty soon after this configuration was put into use.
I wound up taking the Correct route I should have done in the first place - bought a rear RS sway & factory RS droplinks. With what I spent in modifying the rear stock droplinks, I could have almost paid for the RS bar & links!

Hi Danny and Jeff,
I just took a quick read through this thread and noticed you weren't having any luck with getting response/help from Rennlist Central ;-) I know John has been busy trying to get the site speed increased, so in his place I'll be happy to help in any way I can. We would certainly would love to see a 993 FAQ it in the Rennlist Tech area. Let me know your ideas and how I can help... I could certainly take a crack at what has already been put together and get it added in the Tech area....

Danny, I was hoping for more support from rennlist as well. I sent an email but did not recieve a response. My first choice would be for it to be part of rennlist.
I'll update you guys in a few days on the software that looks most promising.

Well, it's really nice to find the 993 Faq on top this forum! Alas many of the links are dead. We really need a volunteer who could keep this faq updated. It would also help if J.D. made this thread permanently on the top. Same here, thanks for all your trouble to make this information possible.

How come this thread is not "sticky" anymore?? Is it because many people seem to NOT read this first?
At least the suspension FAQ link should be permanently at the top.

I tried a couple of months ago to update the links and add stuff but there was a problem with the database and John D was working on it. When I made the changes I could not save them. I will try again when things settle down abit on my end hopefully next week I will have abit more time...
Sorry about that!

A bump on this gem from the vault by our friend and long-time contributor DJF1 aka Danny.

AMAZING resource. Thanks for putting that together. BETTER than the search button... it's a one stop shop. Too bad so many links are dead, but still a wealth of knowledge.
