What is this car really worth? A good friend of mine is looking at this car and we're trying to figure out what the right number is.
Here's the seller's description:
Rare speed yellow, widebody! All factory performance options, 18" Techart Whls, sport seats, sport suspension, dealer euro lowered, aero, cstm motor sound, CD changer, too many to list. Fanatical one owner, never a nite out of the garage, flawless beauty. 12K mls
Thanks much.

It's that "too many to list" part that I'm curious about! Sounds reallllly nice. Sport seats...ahhhhh - sport seats. Nice. Ya just gotta love speed yeller.
I'd say ... $56,585.
Anyone else?
Good luck with it! Post pics if he gets it.

I just got a 11K miles 97 C4S last month with highly loaded factory options.
My guess is $53-$57. It also depends on the demand in the area, # of previous owner, Snow belt, verifiable mileage ...etc

Yep...mid $50K's.
Some will post with wicked low deals but reproducing those deals is like winning the lottery. Great if it happens to you but you can't count on it.

I agree with your range, maybe a bit higher, if the car was original. i.e. without modifications; and was a '98....with 15k and or 30k service done, new tyres and annual servicing for 8 year old car.....
However it is listed for $59,000......in Rennlist I think.....thin air IMHO...
Cheers

1998 models sell at a substantial premium over the 1997 models if they are in mint condition with low miles. The increase in value is disproportionate to a single model year.
Some may argue that these cars are not collectible but I know of a number of people on this board (myself included) that wanted the best condition 1998 widebody we could find. Cost was a secondary concern behind finding the right car. I shopped the car first then worked on the price.
They aren't making these anymore and I wanted as close to new as I could find. Owning the last of the aircooled cars is worth a lot to me. I did not even consider a 1997 model. I kow that they are exactly (or close enough) the same car except for model year. My car is not better than a 1997 but it has more value (to me) becuase of my criteria.

I’m with DC, I paid a substantial premium to get a low mileage ’98 C2S in mint condition with all the options I wanted. It may not be any better than a MY96 or MY97 car but it’s what I had to have.

Just another data point on an actual sale, I sold a 97 C2 coupe with 40K miles for $41K a few weeks ago. The car was arctic silver with sports seats & suspension, 18" wheels, motorsound and some other minor options. So how much more for an S body?
