Question 993 C2S

I am a 964 owner seriously contemplating an upgrade to a 98 C2S. Has anyone done this? What are some of the things that you have noticed between the two? Any objective as well as subjective "seat of your pants" opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, would a 98 C2S, clean title, blk/blk, full leather, sound package, turbo wheels, power seats, LSD, 57K miles, new clutch and brakes, titanium package and everything checks out ok on a PPI be a good deal at under $40K?

It would be a steal at under $40K considering that a low mileage, load with options, mint condition 1998 C2S is $60K+.

Hmmm...

See: <a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=002939" target="_blank">http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=002939</a>

(Dave R's comments are directed at me- I bought the '98 C2S, and he has the '90 964 targa...)

As for whether $40K is a good price for the '98 C2S you describe, yikes! Either that thing has some SERIOUS problems, or it's a steal. Be sure to check it out VERY CAREFULLY if the price is real; that's seriously low ball, and without more information, I'd be suspicious. "Too good to be true" often is.

I suspect, though, since you've posted the question on both the 964 board and the 993 board that you will get the typical responses- each type of owner tends to be loyal to their own choice... As for me, I like the 993 C2S!

Best of luck with your decision!

I had a 964 C2 with 28,000 miles that I sold in 2001.....a huge mistake; the build quality, the materials, the raw feel, the noise, the smells....for me it was more fun to drive than the '98 CS I had and sold...If I could find a good example of a '93 or '94 I would buy it today...there were so few imported and they were very expensive relative to the 993...

As it is I am likely going to buy another '98 CS ( rescue a garage queen with 9000 miles )....we are doing the dance of the cranes right now...

As others of said, the price you referenced does not smell right....Also, if you buy it hold on to the 964 if you can

That sounds like an amazing deal to me...IF. You know the rest, PPI ETC.
Depending where it is in CA, I could check it out for you...promise I won't buy it, I don't have the room!
