Convertible top does not operate while pushing the down button
Hi everybody,
With the Ebrake on, when I push the button to operate the convertible top to go down, nothing happens at all. No sound, nothing. I'm wondering if it's related to the Ebrake because with the Ebrake on, the warning light on the center console does not light and I believe it did in the past when I applied the brake. So I'm wondering if the top will not operate because it thinks the Ebrake is not on. Does that sound right? Otherwise, I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.
The roof will not operate if the controller does not get the "ebrake on" signal. I wouls start with checking the switch in the handle assembly. You should be able to measure ab\nd/or bypass it.
Definitely e-Brake sensor issue. There's a puce of metal on the back of the e-brake handle that tends to bend and/or dislocate itself. Fairly easy to deal with. When brake is set the light should definitely go on, so that's a giant sign in that direction.
Interesting that this post came up. I just replaced the switch on the e-brake and now the light comes on when I turn right. Not left ,just right turns. Minor adjustment I'm sure.
The conducting metal strip on the brake handle is known to become loose. It is easy to refit and fasten.
The cabrio roof control unit is also a known problem, the connector solderings fail over time. This is easily fixed.
Cheers,
Tore
Well, I spoke too soon. Now the parking brake light will not turn off after I have started the car. I did attach the copper "clip" to the back of the Ebrake. It had indeed fallen off. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Just get back in there and keep fiddling with it and adjusting it until it works right. It often takes several tries to get it just right. Been there... done that! Hang in there.
