It was THIS big!
Oh man, I'm very sad today. Last night, I was killing some late hours looking around the www for a 993. In the weirdest piece of luck, I ran across one with a near perfect interior (to my standards, anyway) and near perfect paint, in a color I love! Arena Red! It was for sale less than 10 min from my house, from a relatively reputable dealer, and was what I thought to be below market, at $45,800(!!). It had some miles on it, listed at something like 125k, but also bragged of paperwork detailing a thorough rebuild done in the last 4 years.
This was it. My future 993.
I found it a little earlier than I wanted, sure, but all the planets have aligned, and the universe has practically GIFTED me one of my most desired cars of all time. So I decided I had no choice but to go in to the dealership today, and pay for my new red toy, and work on my detailed apology to my wife.
I went to the shop, and there it was, sitting in the garage, in fantastic shape. I excitedly hailed the sales manager, and immediately stated that I was interested in the 993, and could I look at the engine bay and go for a test drive?
IT WAS SOLD THIS MORNING. The money had been wired a couple days ago, I guess, and it all had hit the guys account by this morning. He proceeded to tell me that though sold, he could see why I was so excited about it- it belonged to a 74 year old woman who could no longer drive it, and had kept it with a dash cover, seat covers, and a bra. It had been driven, but he "had a stack of service records two inches thick" detailing it's history and the engine rebuild.
I'm gutted. That should have been my car... Check the papers every day, fellows, your car is out there.
My f***ing wife is quite pleased.
Here it is, as long as the link is up...

The one you eventually get will be even better. Everything happens for a reason. Enjoy the hunt.

Damn!
I live in a rural area so it took me about 3 years to find mine.
Good luck with the hunt!

Coincidentally, I was on their web site last night looking at this car and some Merc SLs. Quite a few tasty cars, not sure if anyone can vouch for their reputation. Conveniently (dangerously?) close for a lunch time visit..

Been there. Painful. I've been chasing the dragon on the lost $60K Blk/blk 993 C2S with 6K miles for years now. It went to Switzerland.
