The problem with paint experiments is that it can take years to find out if they worked or not. My first and only paint experiment involved using cold galvanizing as a primer just to make sure it would never rust again. It worked for rust prevention just freaking great, but the expensive Imron topcoat started peeling off in sheets. Then I had to strip to bare metal just to get anything to stick.

You live and learn - I follow instructions and have a perfect track record ever since.
