Default Sleeve Part # 964 106 211 32

Can be found on page 38 online parts
The schematic can be confusing on first glance!

The first photo of Part # 18 is not Clearly illustrated on the schematic!

this causes all kinds of Frustrations!?!!
Like burning belts. Belt explosion s. Smoke in the Engine Bay etc. Ask me how I know?

The photo above, photo#1 shows correct Position / installation of sleeve (using stock OEM pulley half)
Before first half stock pulley for Alternator Belt.

If any comments kindly advise?
Love to hear feedback!

My hair is getting shorter!
The dent in forehead larger !
unknowingly I curse publicly all Porsche
bean counters,
Marketing personel
And Porsche engineers
While replacing vbeltand some people call this a hobby! LoL

i tried your recommendation and belt exploded last night.
Now this experience may justify buying a Cricket?

But I question Heat in the Engine Bay.
The hotter the bay gets I think the belt tighten s up.

So what's your take? Thoughts? Recommendations?
The only thing I can add is. Can bolt be too tight?
Over torqued?

I feel your pain - good luck to you!

I have confirmed the battery is toast. I will pick up a new battery and make another attempt this evening to see if I can get things right.

FWIW, if the Porsche manual call out is for 5 mm deflection on the belt, then 1/4", .250", is too loose. 5mm, .196"; is closer to 3/16", .187"

I was simply commenting that 5 mm of deflection is closer to 3/16" than 1/4". I did not bother to verify any requirements for belt deflection; that's the user's job.

...Nor was it a recommendation!

Care must be taken when hijacking others threads.

The Gates Belt Tensioning tool, (Kricket) can be purchased for less than $20 without the Porsche box; so why wouldn't you have one?

What torq do you use on the plastic cover on the back of the alternator. 4 8mm nuts. shop manual doesn't list spec.
