Post We are going to Big Sur on Super Bowl Sunday

The plan is to meet at the intersection of US 101 and CA 156 at 9:00AM. There are two 156 exits for 156, we need "west". There are a few gas stations there. We'll give the late people till about 9:30 and then we'll drive through the hills on 156 over to Highway 1 south through Monterey/Carmel and on to Big Sur. We have reservations at Nepenthe Restaurant on Highway 1 in Big Sur. The restaurant overlooks the ocean from high above and they have good food. Lunch at 12:00. We have eight RSVP's so far. Please RSVP by this Saturday so I can let the Restaurant know. This is my first trip so you will have to tell me if you want to stop in Monterey to bench race. It's about a 70 mile trip from the meeting place to Big Sur. Thanks.

Mr. Clifton , sir, an excellent idea.
How about a rendevous point for those of us living coastside ( the Monterey end of 156 ? )?
If that'll work, then count me in .

Regards

Anyone in the Santa Cruz area should feel free to tag along with Pete and myself. We'll be meeting at the Chevron gas station on Ocean, leaving around 8:15am.

Thumbs up

Oh...I think this is going to be great fun !

For years I have tried to do something on Superbowl Sunday that defies watching the Superbowl ! Years ago, we would join the ranks of the "Polar Bears" and go waterskiing. Now a days, a good drive in the 993 sounds more fun and more sane !

See you there.

P.S. Anyone want to meet up along the I680 corridor before the 101 split ??? I will be coming down from Walnut Creek. I saw one meet up at a Starbucks at Bernal. Is this below the 680/280/101 split. If so, we meet some of you there for ther JAVA fix...

Anyone coming down the Peninsula can meet me at 7:30 at the Bernal Rd. Starbucks. It's the same location we used as the meeting point for the Big Sur drive last August.

Albertsons Shopping Center
Bernal & Via Del Oro - San Jose
125 Bernal Road
San Jose, CA 95119

<a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=125+Bernal+Road&city=san+jose&s tate=ca&zipcode=95119&homesubmit=Get+Map" target="_blank">http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=125+Bernal+Road&city=san+jose&s tate=ca&zipcode=95119&homesubmit=Get+Map</a>

I know some VERY nice roads that we can take for part of the drive although we'll still end up on 101 from Gilroy to our meeting point.

No need to reply to me. Just be there at 7:30 (earlier if you want coffee or socializing) and we'll enjoy some South Bay scenery, P-car style!

Matt
