Koni Special Active
Koni has replaced the FSD with the Special Active shocks.
They changed the gold color into red and these shocks are now available separately whereas the FSD needed to be purchased as a kit.
At this stage, I take that the damping remains the same but the communication from Koni has been very poor.
Left is the old FSD, right is the new Special-Active, both 993 front shocks :

I'm sure they change colors like Nike does it's sneakers. I was really just giving Gert's post a bump . . .
But yes, late 1950's - mid 1960's black was their common color then red came on. Koni Special 'D'.
Ask my wife, I'm full of useless information like this and none of it belongs in a tech forum . . . .

The gold used on the FSD units was a 2 stage paint. Same product, new name and color.

Haha, fair enough. Can these be rebuilt? And if they can what intervals does Koni recommend. If not, how many miles can I expect to get on them with weekend backroad driving? Koni’s site wasn’t super helpful.
