my mechanic quotes me at $2700 - purchase plus installation. he also says the stock sway bars will work well. is this a fair price ?

If that price includes a proper corner balance and 4-wheel alignment with kinematic toe, that's a great price. Sway bars can be changed at a later time, if you feel its required.

you can't beat that price if it includes the proper alignment as Ca993twin mentions. I have stock sway bars and I like mine just fine ( I don't track the car), I am also at RS ride height.

The stock sways will be fine. If you have handling problems (pushing or tailswing, you can look into different sways at that time. I had the PSS-9 on mine with stock sways and it did great. I also have a buddy who has a '95 993 with a blower and he has PSS-9 and stock sways and his does great at the track.

Even though you can change the sway bars later, I'd recommend doing the front sway bar at the same time you change your suspension. It's a PITA to do it afterwards, possible, but not worth the hassle.

$2700 sounds a bit too low. Most shops will want to sell you the parts alone for about that, then another $800 - $1200 to install & align.
