Speed Yellow...
I have finally decided to have my car repainted speed yellow. I am justifying it as providing more active safety than silver in this very foggy and cloudy country. (Actually, have been fascinated by the color for some time now...). My questions: Does anybody know if the speed yellow for the 993 and the 996 are the same? Also, is Ferrari fly yellow the yellow for the Modena? Thanks...

yes and no!
It depends on the year. The early, read 993's are petroleum based (oil) while the later and thus 996 are water based paints. Pigments are the same, just different base.

That's an interesting decision. Hank Cohn's most recent project is to convert a US version street 993 to a Euro Spec. Carrera RS. He is half way there.
And I remembered that he insisted on starting off his base car with a speed yellow 993.

Right. Will never sell this car. It is for my pure enjoyment only. I will be getting an offer next week from the Porsche dealer and will post the price. Thanks for the prompt replies...

I have a MY96 993RS in speed yellow, ex works. Six years on, still looks terrific and turns me on no end. The main reason some folks shy away from the color --- it's eyecatching and you cant fade into the scenery --- is also the very reason it's the safest color : dawdlers get out of your way and few want to mess with you. Only demerit : the highway patrols see you streak by and you cant claim their eyes mistook you for that other black car! Whatever, just do it --- betcha you will never regret it!

Very nice. The only momentary hesitation I have is that I went to a Ferrari dealer to look at a yellow Modena. Doggone, that is also a nice yellow... The garage that will do my car has as customers both the Porsche and Ferrari dealerships here in Zurich, and told me I can choose... I tend towards speed yellow, but still... Man, the problems I have... 
The only downside is that it will take around 3 weeks to do it

Would you know if the "speed yellow" color has remained essentially unchanged. I have seen some photos where it looks more lemony than the pictures above. Maybe just the camera... Thanks
