Default Should i buy 993 if i already have 964?

Hi guys i have a 91 911 with 60 k miles silver. Would it be worth it buying a 993 because im looking at 55-60$k and don't wanna spend that much unless there is a real difference in the driving experience because if its the same drive then i'll just stay with the 964.
2 reasons i was considering it:
1. prices might go up 5k a year so in 5 years it might be 20k more or so for this car, won't wanna spend 70-75 then, ugh.
2. second reason is that the drive might be more enjoyable than the 964 which i doubt considering the 964 ride is out of this world.
thanks for any tips

With 60k miles, you barely drive one car. Why bother with two.

Why don't you go drive a 993 and find out?

993 has its distinct looks and drives much smoother

like its body shape, many edges have been smoothed out in terms of dynamic performance too

mods can make a difference and make the car visceral, but like for like, 964 is more visceral, 993 more 'mature' feeling

the interiors are almost the same, so it is about the appeal of the modernzed exterior and how the car behaves on the road

therefore a good, extended test drive is important

993 and 964 are two different animals ... at least to my driving experiences. 964 is more raw visceral feel than the 993. Go drive a 993 and feel for yourself...it's the only way your going to know than talking about it here.

964 and 993 are basically the same experience!
Buy a SC instead! I repeat: Buy a SC instead!

The 993 is a lot different from the 964. Look at the rear suspension for instance. I've found that my 993 drives a lot differently from even other 993s that I've driven. It all depends on how they're set up.

Prices might go down 5k a year, so in 5 years it might be 20k less or so for this car. Can't predict the future.

The only way you'll find out is by driving some.

The big question is why are you considering a 993 if your 964 is checking all the boxes for you? I'd be inclined to just make your 964 the best 964 you can and drive it until the wheels fall off.

Agreed! The SC experience is much different. Talk about visceral, analog and all of those other buzz words thrown around these days for our air cooled cars. In fact, I am looking to go even further back with purchasing a longhood. If you want something truly different than your 964, get a torsion bar car.

Had a 993 4S and a 964 C2 on B6.
The 4S is the better car in every aspect, but the difference is not too big.
993 is smoother and feels more safe on the track.
964 is less predictable.
Put them both on sale and the 964 went first. Kept the 993 and I love it.

I had a 1985 Targa for years. Was going to go early year 964, but when I drove it, it was very close to the same as my 85 Carrera, when I drove the 993, it had that newer car handling, performance and didn't lose the character of the older air coolers. I'd say for those of us who own the 993's, i think you'd have a hard time convincing us to step into a 964. I still wish I had the 85 targa, but it's a completely different animal.

Buy as many air cooled 911's as you have space, time, and funding for. A torsion bar car is going to be more differentiated than a 964 vs 993. But really, each car has a unique feel that someone truly passionate about the 911 can appreciate. The good news is, if you buy smart you won't lose money if you change your mind. Go for it!
