Stereo Install Question
I'm installing a new MP3 player.
I noticed that that the antenna wire (the coax wire with the pin connector) has a thin black wire, shrink-wrapped along side of it. What is the thin black wire for?
Thanks, George
Should I hook the Power antenna lead to this wire.
I believe it provides 13.5V when the radio is turned on.
I am not sure if the black wire is really the antenna amplifier wire, because based on the factory 95 993 schematic, the antenna amplifier wire should be white, and it connects from the radio plug pin position # 5 to the antenna amplifier.
Also from the schematic it looks like there is a parallel wire that runs with antenna wire from the back of the radio to the antenna amplifier. But the schematic didn't state what color that wire is, but is does look suspiciously like the black wire you are referring to.
Also from the schematic looks like the antenna amplifier is just a simple transistor device. three wire connection. Ground, that white wire I mentioned, and the antenna wire. (with a pararrel wire next to it)
What I would do is to hook up a test light or a voltmeter to the white wire and see what kind of voltage you get from it when you turn on the radio, I would do the same with the black wire.
