Yes silver,

That's exactly what I am talking about.
Although, I was told that the tech art ducts (much less expensive than the RS ducts) do not fit as well.
I have a friend who installed the Techarts, he is very picky. He told me the RS ducts are a perfect fit and the techarts are not as perfectly clean. He didn't mind though because they were clean enough.
actually, here's the note..
[quote] If you put in ducts w/o hoses one blows on the a/c and the other on the
oil cooler. If you are going to do this don't bother to buy the expensive
ones from Gert, there are other cheap alternatives. On the other hand you
can never have too many brake ducts, especially in Florida and in the summer
it will make a big difference, plus the porsche ones are very high quality.
The ones I had came from GT Racing and cost only $150 for the pair. They
did not fit perfectly maybe 8 of 10, but they were good for me and I'm very
picky. Hope that helps. BTW I did notice a drop in oil temp and the a/c
blew a little cooler a little faster...
<hr></blockquote>

But, I am really looking for pics of Gerts..
thanks.

oops, wait, I think I am confused.

Are the ducts that gert sells the Tech art ducts?

Or are they the RS ducts? or is that one and the same?

Sorry if my previos message has mistakes regarding the manufacturer.

silver,

Are the Turbo S ducts the same thing as the P93 brake ducts with fog lights?

or is it different??

Hey Silver,

What's the difference between a positioning light and a fog light?

and am I understanding correctly,
The Gert Duct has a FOG LIGHT??
and the Turbo S duct has a positioning light?

and you opted for the Gert ducts with the FOG lights vs. the Turbo S OEM duct which only has a positioning light, even though you prefer OEM??

thanks so much.

Hey Silver..

I just did some more research and I found out some interesting stuff.
Thought you might like to know:

The Turbo S OEM brake duct is closed off, It doesn't actually vent ANYTHING.. and, the positioning light is crap. It's pretty much a useless part. I have even heard that many Turbo S owners switched to the techart product after buying the Turbo S.
Porsche was originally going to use the techart part for the OEM but they couldn't agree on a deal. SO Porsche manufactured a cheap useless knock off. The positioning light came off a mercedes and is use less.

Also, are you taking off your bumperettes? and, putting on the clear corner mods.. I understand that this is the way to go but the bumperettes need to be filled in by a body shop.

Also, do you know the cost of doing all this stuff, if this is what your doing?
Clear Corner MOD
Techart brake duct
remove Bumperette, fill in gap
Paint duct..

I was quoted around $1500 for the whole job as an estimate. Sounds high to me.. Just wondering what your research has dictated..

Just trying to get an overall picture..
thanks.

Seth,
Considering the brake duct kit is $725 your quote doesn't sound too bad.
<a href="http://users.skynet.be/fa032321/cpx_p93061.htm" target="_blank">http://users.skynet.be/fa032321/cpx_p93061.htm</a>
Add R&R, paint, etc.

It does sound expensive for what it is. If you want brake ducts I can help run some ducting for less than $50.

Hey Greg,

Actually that quote for $1500 wasn't based on Gert's numbers, they were based on another seller who is more expensive (GO GERT!!!)
I wanted to find out more about the OEM Turbo S ducts and a dealership refered me to a 3rd party distributor. The third party distributor told me he didn't sell the OEM Turbo S ducts because of the reasons listed above. He did however sell the Techart ducts that Gert sells. However his price was much more expensive. He also sold the clear corner mods at a higher price than Gert (GO GERT!!) So, I asked him to estimate the whole job, parts, labor, painting, etc. Based on his part prices, it came to $1500. When I am ready to do this mod, I will buy the parts from Gert, especially with all of Gert's rave reviews, I'd like to support him. And I will also save some money which is nice..

I do appreciate you offer to help Greg. Also, I already have brake ducts. On the belly of the car. I think though when I lower the car to non Paris-dakar rally height, I might need to relocate my ducts.

Thanks..
btw, Greg, want to see some more body roll...
this was from my AutoX on sunday..enjoy..

Seth,
That makes sense. I guess I won't have to make a trip to Miami to help you out then. Once you lower the car you can just run the ducts through the fender liner and up into the front of the car. I have them on my street car (left over from track duty) and have a similar setup on my race car until we get some real ducts made from carbon fiber, etc.
Good video, looks like a fun afternoon.

Hello Seth!

Who quoted that? I want to get rid of those damn little bumperettes.

I fiqured I just order corners from Gert & stick some red tape to fill the hole until I found someone to fill the holes decently. And the rear ones have to go too!

P.S. I'm going to the picnic (with the whole 'team', actually), around 11-12 I guess, are you coming?

Hey Petu,

The quote didn't come from a body shop, it was just an estimate based on what the guy remembered other customers being charged for the plug.

I am most probably going to do this mod so when I find the place that will do it, I will pass the info onto you of course.

I will probably have Foreign Affairs do the install for me, run the hoses, change the electrical for the lights, etc.
They have a paint and body shop next to them that they use. I will get the name for you.

I would do the install myself but since I have two left thumbs, probably be cheaper for me to have someone do it right. Knowing my luck and handiness, I'll short out the electrical on the car.

I am leaving for NY tomorrow and will be back on Saturday. My plan is to go to the picnic and shoot some video for the TV show. Not definate yet though, really depends on how much NYC wears me out. I would like to go though.
I'll give you a call on Sat or Sun and will let you know my plans. I look forward to meeting you and the gang.
What do you plan on bringing for the pot luck??
Some Finnish food?
I'll probably show up with a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken

Good Seth,

let me know, I'll propably do rest of the stuff by myself but filling I'll let someone else to do.

Let's call on saturday or sunday & hopefully you'll come there too!

Hmm... now if I only could find a place around here where they sell reindeer, I'll bet you'd love my fried reindeer w/ smashed potatoes & good old Finnish beer <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> (50% Finnish beer + 50% water = budweiser) <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> ****, I can't buy Finnish beer either... <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Well, I guess I just bum your chicken then <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

Greg,
when setting up your brake cooling hose, where did the end of the hose go on the brake rotor? I have seen the AJ-USA kit that has a backing plate, did you have something fabricated? or do you just point it at the back of the rotor and wire it up?

Hey Eric,

I'm sure Greg can answer this one much better than I can..
But my hose is just pointed at the back of the rotor.
The closer the better..
It was installed by a shop that preps race cars..

Hope this helps..
