After more time than I imagined and more steps than you would believe, the electron beam welded, layered hard chromed titanium outer shafts for the damper portion of the world's first carbon fiber struts!

. Will you be using conventional springs in this setup?

You could, of course, use conventional springs. In this particular instance, however, I will be using a dual (main and helper) titanium spring setup with a newly designed version of the spring adjuster used by Porsche in ALMS/FIA GT type racing (titanium springs are not, by the way, permitted in ALMS/FIA GT).

So where do you put the hooks? They must me a bitch to get to hang straight on most trees.... Do they light up, or is that in version 2?

They look great!

Notice the thread on the top of each piece -- the hooks can be attached thereto.

On a more serious note, the test rig for the carbon fiber struts should be completed next week and testing should be accomplished during the first full week of January. Assuming they pass (and I have every reason to believe they will withstand loads equal to steel and be stiffer), the struts should be assembled by January 20.

No reason to be speechless -- it's only a bit of titanium and carbon fiber (the damper will also contain aluminum whenever structurally permissible as aluminum is lighter than titanium).
