Post Source for vinyl stone guards

Any recommendations on a source for the vinyl stone guards that go behind the doors and the backside of the front and rear wheel openings?

Thanks!

Buck,

A couple of body shops have mentioned that they get the stone guard material from the dealer and that it is a bitch to put them on cleanly.

Well guys,

From what I have heard, they are a bitch to peel off and clean the area. But they go on like a piece of tinted window film only smaller and thicker.

I got a set from the old Automotion. They aren’t TOO hard to install. Just clean the area really well, then generously spray a lubricant (I think I used a window cleaner) over the entire area. Position them, squeegee out the bubbles, and then let dry.

Bought a set last fall from Performance Products. Made by 3M and are the same that the dealership sells (but for less $$, i know i saw them there had the same peel-off backing). If i remember correctly it was $99.00 for both.
Now all i need to do is get enough guts to put them on my 96 C4 Cab, it is NOT an easy task. Good luck!

If you just want to do the rear wheel arches, just buy the material from 3M or a distributor and then trace the shape of the existing ones on your car. Use an exacto knife to cut them to match. Then use a hair dryer to warm up the old ones and peel them off. Then clean the surface really well, spray on a mixture of alchohol (sp?) and water from a spray bottle on both the car and the back of the sticker (spray a lot) and then place the stickers and squeege out the liquid. After a few days all the bubbles will go away and you saved yourself some bucks. If you don't want to do it, call a window tinting place and let them do it for you.

Good luck,

E. J.

my 98S has some type of rear fender protection, but it looks to be colored, kinda matches the body color, are these factory?

I've looked at several suppliers and found the the pieces that go in front of the rear fenders but not the wheel arches. I've also not been able to find either in White. I can only find clear. Didn't I read not too long ago that because of yellowing there are white ones for white cars?

Thanks

AFAIK, white ones are only available from the dealer. Same stuff, just colored.

RE ones just in front of the rear wheels - buy the ones for '96 and later cars. They're larger and give better protection. Do an archive search; I described how I removed old ones and installed new ones (royal PITA).

I know of no factory ones on backside of front and rear wheel arches. I had extra material left over from when a local company installed the 3M nose bra ("Invisishield"); I cut my own to fit along the rear of the F&R wheel arch cutouts and slapped them in.
