Default Alarm malfunction assistance

I've searched the threads and so far have not found any that addresses my problem. I have a '97 C2 which has not been used for 3 weeks but is always hooked up to a battery tender. The car starts but the alarm also sounds off. Alarm also turns on when ignition is turned to position 2. In both cases alarm goes off once the car is turned off or ignition key is set to position 1. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

This portion of the ignition switch goes bad from time to time and maybe your culprit, predicated upon the description of your issue.

Here's the portion that goes bad...

This is the entire assembly with the steering lock rod

Use a Porsche-compatible OBD diagnostic tool to read out the alarm triggering cause.
I'd bet a beer on that it is either a failing door switch or the green radio removal alarm wire that has not been properly insulated after installing an aftermarket head unit.
Cheers,
Tore

Thanks nine9six and ToreB. I'll follow those leads and hopefully get the car running again soon!

Please post your results once you find the fix, as it will help others with the same type of issue.
Hoping this is a quick and easy fix...
