I love it! And a great story to boot. Speaking of boots ... consider dyeing the leather one black.

Congrats Chuck. Saw this car in person too. Craftmanship is impressive.
Fascinating how this car came full-circle after so many years.

Al - did you mention the possible Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman connection?. Maybe Chuck can follow up being so close to the original dealer.
Chuck - started out on MGB's myself 72B, 74BGT. Miss the simplicity but not the electrical system....

I'm certain some in the area will recognize the car, it has been quite a few years and the originating dealer has closed. There were some very interesting bits that went along with the car, such as; an original crested leather dealer hang sample of the Cedar Green, original delivery key tags from PCNA to Ogner showing the dealer's order number, as well as an originating dealer license plate frame.

Happy New Year Jay! - and BTW, the Private Rennlist Day at Palmer is scheduled for 10/8 the day after the Porsche on the Mountain Exhibition. hope to see you there!

Regards,

Al

Great back story and wow, what a cool 993! I know you mentioned that the leather boot cover was a bit too much green, but if I had such a unique interior color and options, I’d want to accentuate it more.

May I suggest a Cedar Green top when it comes time to replace it? How cool would that look!

With FD in your backyard, I’d take advantage of all their excellent 993 offerings....Stage II/IIIs, Goldenrod, SSK...all their stuff is great...

Enjoy it in good health....

Thanks for all the kind comments and welcoming me back to the madness. I am going to keep the 993 as close to original as I can. Over time I'll change out the 23 year old suspension and go to ROW ride height. Odd, (at least to me) the 993 has touring suspension (M032) from the factory. I had no idea there was a soft ride option for the 993. I have to get a black canvas boot cover. The green leather one is beautiful and will be used from time to time but IMHO, it adds more green than needs to be there. And, the top will stay down anytime the 993 is driven. At the very top of the mod list is the Fister Stage III exhaust. In time we'll add the Goldenrod and SSK and a few other things. It is my plan to keep this Porsche for a long long time. If I keep it as long as I did the Boxster I'll be in my 80's when I get my next Porsche. That is a scary thought.

The 993 has a strange beginning. It came to the US in mid 1995 but wasn't sold until March 1997 with 242 miles on it. Al spoke with the second owner that told him the first owner stated the car was used by Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman prior to being sold by Ogner Porsche. I have the first owners name and will contact him to see if he can shed some light on this. Also, Ogner Porsche didn't close. It was sold and changed it's name to The Auto Gallery. I'll go by there too but I am not sure there are many employees there that were there 23 years ago. We'll see.

I have already bought my ticket for Rennsport VI in September complete with 993 Corral parking.

Great looking cab with a very unique look! Enjoy!
Good call on the black canvas boot cover, the green leather one is very unusual and worth a small fortune and as such should be used sparingly. Keep it for special events and car shows.

Chuck's car is probably one of the Top-5 most optioned air cooled cars I have ever furnished a sticker for and there have been some doozies. The first cedar green leather car too...and probably the last. Ive only done two other cars w/the leather tonneau cover - for the man that has everything. Nobody ordered it.

Best part of this is seeing owners like Chuck complete the journey and find something a bit unusual and different, then put the pieces together and relish the history as much as the here-and-now. That's what its all about.

I think this might be it's brother: Another "greenie"
Could be the new "option leader"

Tom Cruise....now John Denver?

Beautiful car! I too have a full leather strange interior colored cab. Rubicon Grey with full front and rear seats and upper and lower dash in leather along with full leather door cards.
