Talking Trusted Wrenches

My wife and I plan a trip to New York area this summer, and the thought occured to me that "what if" I need a Porsche mechanic away fom home ?
Some of you may feel this belongs in OT, but I would like to suggest we build a database of "Trusted Wrenches" we can call if needed.
Let me know if you like the idea, and perhaps our moderator can decide best approach.

Jim
I think it's a great idea, although I've no idea how to do it so it will be easy to access & search.

Didn't you have something like this on the old format Board? Although as I remember it was for suppliers & didn't work too well

You might try Platz Mall and click on "Service Centers." I used it to find PPI places when searching for my P-car.

Looked at Platz.com listings, and have printed names in New York state for reference.
That said, what I do not know, is which are good, for example, if you were to look up all mechanics in this area that advertise their Porsche expertise, I would definitely have a reccomendation......I deal with this ****, older German fellow that apprenticed with Porsche many years ago before immigrating to Canada - knows his stuff, and ultra honest.

Jim,
I think that all of those listings on Platz Mall were recommended by PCA regions and satisfied customers. A quick review of any area reveals names of some of the foremost Porsche experts: Andial, Callas Rennsport, Champion, Mayo, Zims, Otto, Ruf, etc. Noticed that there don't appear to be any dealers. Any recommendations I have gotten from friends around the country always appeared on the list.
