Cool 993 Dreaming

I currently drive a '90 964 C4 Cabriolet. Lately, my wifes been talking about getting a new car. Naturally, I've got PLENTY of suggestions for her. She needs a daily driver - about 20 miles a day. I'd like to something we can both enjoy on weekends. I'd be happy climbing over a roll cage and belting into a 4 point harness on my way to work. Somehow my wife doesn't think that's a good idea in her heels and skirts.

I don't know a whole lot about 993's - maybe you guys can help me. I'd like to find a 993 Carrera 4S. Ideally, it would be one without a sunroof. I also understand that there was a "back seat delete" option that gave you a parcel shelf instead. I'd like to find a good combination of street performance while still keeping it "spouse friendly"

Any tips?

What other "enthusiast" options were available on the 993?

I think you got it nailed down already. A C4S is a great choice. You will probally have a hard time finding w/o sunroof and with rear seat delete. But I have read that you can convert to rear seat delete. Good luck!

C-4 Guy,

I assume your search for a 993 sans sunroof and back seat are with the intended benefit of lower weight/higher performance. If that's the case, why not search for a similarly equipped C2-S and save an addional 100+ lbs?

South Florida? Who needs 4-wheel drive!

Even with the seats, you can fold them down and the hold luggage, etc. quite nicely (mine are full even as I write this -- headed off for the weekend).

Man, that's not gonna be easy...

I was trying to find a car w/out a sunroof and couldn't... And rear seat, well, I didn't see any.

Rear seats are easy to 'delete', just throw them out & get RS rear carpet from Gert.

Sunroof is a fifferent matter. Of course you can take all the motors etc. out but if you want to weld the roof etc. that's gonna be a bigger job...
Plus you'll be doing something you can't reverse (within reason).

I've already taken rear seat backs out, and rear wiper, spare & compressor too.

Next I'm going to remove are sound insulations from here and there.

Good luck with your hunt!

Like MC said, why not C2? it's lighter and more fun at track (please, not start argument, just my opinion).

P.S. Where are you at? I'm in Miami Beach, if you want a ride in C2, I'm happy to give you one.

Actually, I think I found the perfect car by accident!

I guess it's time to turn over the sofa cushions and look for some change! This is gonna cost a few bucks, better check under the floor mats of the 964 too!

Do I "need" 4 wheel drive? Not really in sunny south Florida. It does come in handy for those unexpected tropical torrential deluges that happen all summer long. It's also nice to have for my annual Holiday trek up North to visit relatives. (They live up in God's country deep in the Pennsylvania mountains) It really boils down to a preference and not a "need". I really like my 964 C4, and I'd be happy to have another 4WD. It's a reassuring feeling on the track when you feel those front wheels clawing for traction and pulling you through a turn.

The car Cetro mentioned on ebay sold for 48095.00

1996 C4S
sunroof delete

rear seats delete

every option you can think of except aero

Dark Blue/Cash.

One doctor owner

14,700 miles

documented, etc

I threw in a bid for $47,995.00....missed it by $5.00

This might help as a pricing reference...Oh, a broker handled it.... say he gets 5%, and the owner nets $45,800.00

What does this say if anything about the market?

Cheers
