Does this sound about right?
Just got a quote from the local dealership to reprogram two remotes and my radio code for $195 total. The '98 C2S I acquired last month was missing the key code & radio code(not to mention one of the remotes) from the prior owner. Not that I have much of a choice at this point, since the prior owner doesn't have the codes anywhere, and it wasn't in the manuals when I acquired the car.

Dave,
That's a rip-off man. Call other dealer, the dealer can get those 2 codes for you for FREE. All they do was just FAX the vin number and the title to PCNA and they will FAX back those codes.
The service or tech guy can program the remotes for you while you wait.

Dave I:
KC993 is right. Your dealership should be able to easily get you both codes, free of charge. I believe that Robin has a DIY (www.p-car.com) for programming new remotes. If not, it is in the service manuals. It is not complicated but it is time consuming and somewhat involved. I would be somewhat tempted to let the dealership do the job even though I agree the price is outrageous. The only work involved is programming the DME to work with the new remotes and that shouldn’t take more than 1.5 hours and that’s being very generous. If that price includes cutting you a new key and getting you a new transmitter, then the price isn’t bad.

It was Rector in Burlingame. I've got the two remotes (one brand new)with the two keys. Just need the key code, and I could probably do it myself following either the manual or DIY on Robin's site.
Actually, they broke it down; $125 to get the key code from the factory & program the remote, and 65-70 for the same procedure on my radio.

I had the dealership in Provo, Utah program my radio about 5 wks ago (battery ran down during winter storage) for $ 36. I thought that was high because if you have the code it takes 5-10 min job to program the radio as I recall.

When I bought my car last year the key code card and radio code cards were also missing. I called Becker of North America (888)423-3537 ext. 200 with the the serial number of the radio and faxed them a copy of the title. For a fee of $35.00 they sent me a fax with the code and sent three new cards in the mail. I called PCNA about the key code. I was told I couldn't get a replacement card but if I took the car with proof of ownership to a dealer they would get the code for me. I called a dealership and they confirmed the same thing at no charge. Hope that helps.

I've scanned in the the relevant pages in the service manual for you:

<a href="http://www.cuberootconsulting.com/~jchan/immob/90-2.gif" target="_blank">Page 90-2</a>
<a href="http://www.cuberootconsulting.com/~jchan/immob/90-3.gif" target="_blank">Page 90-3</a>
<a href="http://www.cuberootconsulting.com/~jchan/immob/90-4.gif" target="_blank">Page 90-4</a>
Hope this helps.. Looks like it's pretty easy, but there's a lot of waiting around for certain time slots.

It is not as complicated as the service manual Jeff posted. What you need is pages 19-20 of the owners manual. When programming multiple remotes, after you finish the first and each subsequent one, do not congratulate yourself with a <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" /> . You only have a minute to start the next one.
