Default C.V.Boot

C.V. Boot (rubber) on the driver side drive shaft is damaged (see pic). How hard is to replace it? Is it DYI? Has anyone done it?

Thanks!

Have done them on old 911s whre the driveshaft is a bolt-on flange mount on both tranny and wheel bearing side. These later cars (i.e., G50 trannies on thru the 993) unfortunately can be a PITA, due to having to unbolt the center driveshaft bolt sticking out thru the outer hub (million or so ft-lbs), then having to press the driveshaft inwards until it pops out the hub.

They're not too bad to do. I did it on my old '88 911. It's not any harder to do than install your pss9's. I had to buy a socket large enough (32mm?) to take the nut off on the wheel end. I took the whole cv unit out and replaced both boots. Be sure to "burp" the boot before strapping it down. I plan to do mine next year whether they need it or not just for preventative maintenance.
