My 2c - I have both the center console cup holder and the VW Passat (95m model) holder.
If I were to keep one, it would definately be the VW holder. Easy to fit and remove, takes decent-size cups and very sturdy. The center console holder JUST takes a regular size aluminum can.

seeefours, I have the VW Passat model, and like it for the following reasons:
1. I have it installed without screws--it slips into an existing slot (do a search) and stays there without threads.
2. It is out of the way, on the passenger side of the tunnel, but easy to reach for the driver.
3. Holds two beverages. Will hold a Starbucks Grande Latte (with sleeve).
4. When closed, it is very unobtrusive.
5. One sort of disadvantage--wife likes to put her purse in the passenger footwell, and with her, the purse, and the drinks, it is a little crowded. However, 95% of my mileage is solo.
Good luck........John

What about this one on ebay - it is different than the others but claims to work in a Porsche...

The one from drinkholders.com is $50, whereas the one above is $13. Is this a case of get what you pay for?
It does not appear to adjust as much as the drinkholders.com one does. The ones in the center console appear to pose an awkward location to get your drink while driving (having to twist around to get it).

As a total capitulation to my wife (and daughter), I just bought the cupholder unit that replaces the casette deck off an Ebay auction. Unfortunately, I can no longer brag that my car doesn't have a cupholder!
