Looking at your avatar, I see looks are important to you. Based on that, I'd say no.

From strictly a performance standpoint, I'd say yes.

As an investment, I really can't say as I don't buy cars as investments.

Any of the GT2's are fantastic cars, the 996 is the last of the non-nanny cars raw, involving and very fast.

I would buy a 996 GT2 in a heart beat.

I would echo the above - the 996 GT2 is a rare car, in fact much more so than a 993 C4S. So probably a good idea to pick it up.

Having said this... there were two of them in my hood this year that I did not sell the 993 C2S to buy one. Why? Lovin' the 993.

I went from 993 turbo to 996 turbo and other than market price, I think the 996 turbo blows away the 993 in every aspect except perhaps looks and I love the 996 turbo. It is a step forward in all areas! you will not regret it. Just make sure you drive the GT2.

Thanks everybody for your input.... this is a real hard decision for me. I love my 993 C4S in all aspects... the body lines, driving experience, manual 6 speed gear box, wide body, Blk / Blk color combo, Fister Exhaust, stance now that I had the Bilsteins installed and on and on......... but the 996 GT2 is 462 HP stock. It's a RARE BEAST much much rarer than my C4S and I feel I could drive it more and still come ahead down the road if I decided to sell it. This is gonna be real difficult in one aspect my C4S only has 31,000 on it and some history to it. I did all the right tasteful mods to it but also kept all the original parts I replaced. I am OCD X10 and this is my baby. The only sticking point with me is the 996 GT2 Body lines... I DON''T LOVE THEM. Not sure if I can live with this. I am more of a Porsche Purist...the 996 was a mistake in Porsche 911 Design and well known. Man............... . . . . . .

I wouldn't do it. How fast can you drive on the streets anyhow. If you have to have a 6 GT2. Buy one in addition to your C4S.

If you are looking at a black/black one near Massachusetts make sure you get a through paint meter test done.

HA! I didn't even notice!!! Very cool! Yeah it's not in Mass. I have some serious thinking to do here. I may keep the C4S and add the GT2. Don't know if I can part with my 993 I will never be able to replace this one.

Question of taste. I would never sell my 993C4S for a 996GT2. If you prefer performance to looks and charisma, then do it. I prefer looks and charisma and air-cooled. Now if you were talking about the original Ruf Yellow Bird, then that would be another story. That is the only car I like more than my 993C4S...

"the 996 GT2 Body lines... I DON''T LOVE THEM." Drive the GT2, and keep in mind that once you are inside the car, you can't see the body lines. There is a 6GT3 in my garage, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with all aspects of the car, especially the 380 HP, the 8,300 RPM Red Line and the incredible handling....no sun roof, never an option on these cars, only 1,500 in the North American market, and it looks to be about 30 in Carrera White.

This is a true "No Nanny" analog car, you drive it and you'll be part of the the car, integrated into the system so to speak.
