The sub-straps attach directly to the bar on the Planted Bracket. If you look at photos 3-5 in the first post, you'll see that the front bar of the Planted Bracket lines up perfectly with the hole in the seat for the sub-straps.

So how much weight did you save over to OEM seats with the hardware and everything included?

Total weight savings was about 75 lbs. The stock seats weigh 60 lbs. each. The B6XL Seats weigh only 16.6 lbs. each (33 lbs. total), add 3 lbs for the two brackets and 8 lbs. +/- for the Planted Brackets. Add another pound or two for bolts and hardware. And the new B6 XL Screamers are now 20% lighter.

Reviewing the planted bracket design, I would not trust that front bar to hold the force of the seatbelt in the event of a frontal accident. I've ran FEA on sub strap designs for a custom job I did, but even without advanced analysis I most definitely think you're going to fail that cross bar in what is essentially pure bending with a >1000lb load.

Food for thought.

So punched your numbers into a calculator real quick, and absolute best case scenario... You're looking really dangerous. Here's a quick spreadsheet comparing what you're running now vs some .125" C channel and square tube:

jstyer,

Thanks for that. I’m wondering if I can fit a pair of Brey Krauss anti-sub straps down there.

As as it stands I plan to relocate the lap belts this weekend. The prior owner ran the securing bolts through the drain holes on the floor of the car. I’m running new bolts where the front seat belt reels go, and on the inside tab of the Planted brackets.

Will Brey Krauss fit?

Eye bolts through the floor pan with proper backing plates is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately in the driver's side, the ecu beneath the seat is basically directly underneath the harness hole. Maybe others could chime in with how they have made eye bolts work for them?

I went with the Brey Kraus bar myself.

why is this? the floor pan is flimsy compared to a bar or bracket. seems like in your spreadsheet the floor pan would fail before a bracket.

anyway, I followed the schroth instructions for the correct angle of the sub belts, and yeh, exactly where the ecu(and other box) is located.
I removed both boxes and mounting plate, bolted the ecu to a small piece of marine plywood and mounted it behind the seat in the rear foot well.
the other strategy I've seen is cutting holes in the ecu mounting plate for each eye bolt.
the schroth belts came with what I assume is the correct eye bolts and backing plate.

Inside eye screws will be attached to the posts on the inside rear of the Planted brackets
Here’s my plan for the two outside brackets for the lap belts. Photo courtesy of my stripped 964. I’m simply using the existing bolt holes for the seat belts. If your retaining the stock seatbelts this obviously won’t work. Inside eye screws will be secured to the posts on the Planted bracket next to the center console. Do any members if the Board here see an issue with this application?

Quick update on the Tillet B6XL’s.

Following Jstyer’s recommendation, I beefed up the anti-sub bar. No longer relying on the thin Planted bracket, I installed Brey Kraus’s R-9035 anti-sub bar. The install didn’t go very smoothly at first. I just kind of figured the sub bar attached to the rear seat holes - wrong. That would have been a better location, as the front holes leave the bar just a bit forward of the hole in the seat (it should be directly below, or up to 20 degrees behind).

Naturally up front the bolts securing the seat rails were right on top of the sub bar, so I had to drill a few holes to make room for the bolts. In any any event I finally got the bar installed, and it’s certainly a better location and much stronger than the Planted bracket.

One comment on the Tillet sliders. They’re flimsy crap. So flimsy that I’ve begun to notice a little play in the seat, and it’s definitely the sliders. I purchased a set of Recarro sliders for another set of seats and the Recarros are remarkably sturdy in compararion.

So the plan is to jettison the sliders eventually, at least on the driver side. The F5 brackets with Recarro sliders might work as Petinjp had noted. But current thinking is no slider at all. The seats, however, are on the highest setting and will be too low with no sliders, so at a minimum I will need to shim the seats up with some aluminum in place of the sliders.

R-9035 anti-sub bar

Cut a few extra holes up front in the Planted bracket

Bolts securing sliders sadly lined up right over the sub bar

Cut a few holes in sub bar to make room for the bolts, and cut of the useless bar, then rattle canned the spots

Install finally complete

Note better location and much Sturdier than using Planted bracket.

Great progress! I really love these seats and am seriously considering them. For me it’s a 3 hour drive to the track- then of course 3 hours back. Track sessions are 4-5 a day at 30 min each and we do this while trip in a day (though I’m pushing the guys to leave the night before and fork out for a hotel.) A trip like that would test the limits of the most comfortable seats! I know it’s different for everyone but given the lack of cushion/suspension in the seat (no problem softening the shocks to and from the the track) are they comfortable enough for longer stretches?

Pete,

Despite the minimalist design, the seats are incredibly comfortable even on long trips. I don’t drive three hours, but I do regularly drive two hours each way to the track with no issues. The PCA NER Vintage DE event I went to at Palmer had two 90 minute driving sessions, and there was no fatigue whatsoever. (The Vintage DE events are amazing!)

Aside from the flimsy sliders, the only other issue I have had is a little rubbing on the left shoulder at one AX event. We were running clockwise and the rubber surrounding the shoulder harness on my left shoulder rubbed and left a scar. No problems since, but I keep a small fleece vest on hand for some extra padding at AX events. Im thinking about removing the rubber liner...

@foxman how do you like the planted uprights? Any reason you chose those over the BKs or others?

The planted floor brackets (just floor brackets, there are Tillet side mounts) work nicely and are very easy to take in and out, but they add a lot of weight. If BK makes a suitable air-cooled side mount that mates with the Recarro universal sliders, I would go Brey Krause in a heart beat. Brey Krause is reviewing the dimensions right now...

those seats are awesome and closely resemble the carbon fiber seats that Mclaren UK is putting in the SENNA and new 600LT with optional sports race seats. Whats the leadtime and price for a pair of tillets.
Enjoy and thanks for sharing! .
