997 looks like a 993?

IF that is indeed how it will look, I will be quite pleased. The rear wheel arches bulge out, once again, and the headlights are back to 'normal'.
It looks like a slightly slicker, more modern 993.
Compare with 996 photo below:

Hahaha, true!
You'll loose half the money you bought it for just taking it home from the dealer.
It's worth it if you know for sure this is the last car you'll ever own..
Unfortunately, I'm not that kind of guy..

I'm in for sure if the car looks like that. I like the back of the 996 wider and the front is perfect. I think they will do very well with this style P-Car. I will have to wait a year like some of the other members unfortunately for the prices to drop a little I can't stand to take that huge depriciation hit right of the bat. I've done it before and its a kick in the sack.

This is a quote from AutoSpies WebPage, I dont know what to believe????
Well sorry to break you hearts, but it's not coming.
Porsche says the next significant change will come on the next body style, but that will not appear for at least two years.
We were also told that the next generation 911 (2005-06) interior will have a very close family resemblance to the Cayenne (Alleluia!). The current dash is a tired design in our eyes, that looks very cheap for a car, of the Porsches stature.
The Audi TT has a nicer dash and interior, for goodness sake!
Our guess is that many parts in the Cayenne dash/console/navigation will be also used in the next generation 911.

Rich,
EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! You beat me to it, but thanks for confirming it with the pic!
Nice rear flares, a step in the right direction, but is that some funny shot angle of the rear as it seems like there's gotta be a bunch of negative camber back there.
Indeed, if this is the new look for the 911, I'm all for it ...not that it will effect me directly since I ALREADY have my dream car (the one that I can afford, anyway).
