Default AUDIO: CR210 aux input for iPod?

My 993tt with a Becker CR210 is in dire need of a decent iPod connection method. I've tried

- FM xmitters, but there are just too many stations in my area, 1/2 hr north of LA. It's VERY tough to find even 1 station that's unused, and when you drive 5 miles, it's gone.

- cassette adapter, but it looks like junk in my ride, and the darn thing (sony model) has picked up some sort of rattle that is audible over the purr of my cuisenart-like engine[1] and the music unless it's cranked up

Suggestions short of replacing the head unit eagerly accepted.

thanks!

[1] - yes, a better sounding exhaust system is on the drawing board, but it must wait in line behind the K24s.

If you go online and search for auxiliary inputs, or automotive auxiliary inputs, you'll see a few companies that make a factory compatible cables that you hook up to the "head unit to CD changer connector" in the trunk. The same cable has an input jack that you can then run back to the interior of the car. When you use this jack with an iPod, the head unit will "think" the changer is still hooked up and will allow you to play tunes directly through the system.

TwinsPop,

Camarillo? You're right around the corner for me (Moorpark) and Scott Mellor (Thousand Oaks) and probably a bunch of other TTs. Where have you been hiding?

I've got some sort of a whoop-de-doo stereo with a subwoofer and big old amp taking up valuable real-estate in the trunk, and I know nothing about this stuff. But lets think about a get together on a weekend, so we can admire each others cars.

Check out this page:

You can order the aux cable, removal tools, etc.

I asked this question years ago on the old Becker board, and the answer seems to be the same on the new one (http://members4.boardhost.com/becker...tml?1070147481). 210 doesn't have an aux input, but 220 does.

www.rcainput.com has support for a lot of brands but not becker. Upgrade to the 220 shouldn't be too terrible?

I had my Ipod connected to the 210 with an aux port wire purchased from Becker. When the battery in my car died the 210 reverted back to FM mode. I've tried everything but can't seem to recall the sequence to change it back to aux mode.

Default try this FM transmitter

This is the best FM transmitter (btw I am an amateur radio operator with Advanced license -.-. --.- )

http://www.ccrane.com/fm-transmitter.asp
With digital frequency lock and a decent signal strength there is a good chance that it will not pick up broadcast signal if place right next to the antenna.

I have a 210, so no AUX input, so the cable that Franklin229 suggests sounds perfect.

But I must be pathetic at web seraches - I can't find such a device. Any clues?

Hey Steve - I used to live in Woodland Hills (and may be on my way back there - altho this time we'll probably live in Thousand Oaks or Calabasas - still be working in WH if it all works out). I wont have a 993 (just yet!) but it'd be great to meet some Rennlisters (sounds like there may be quite a few) if we make the move out there again.

There are a couple of guys that just take their Porsches (or whatevers) out on short brisk drives in the early mornings, on an occasional weekend. We often end up someplace interesting for breakfast or brunch, and just talk car stuff. You, and any others that are interested would be welcome to join us. When do you think you may be back here? Are you keeping your C2S and shipping it over here?

A friend just emailed me this link for a cable that hooks up an iPod to your head unit. No affiliation.

Steve - position opens in January so early next year I suppose.
No, I wont be bringing the C2S there - it'll have to go (but I'll ship the new wheels over for the next one!!).

Its all still up in the air (with developments emerging here in England too) but its good to know I'll still be able to talk/drive cars when/if I get there again!!
