or

1996 993TT with 30K+ miles in good condition.

I like them both but I need to get off the fence before I get a splinter in my...

Doug,

You are really losing your mind...
Get the TT - I once read an article in excellence that stated that the 993 TT is sooo much better than any 911 Porsche ever produced, even the NA 993, that at a touch over 100k it is a bargain in comparison to the NA models. Now you are looking at getting a TT for almost the same price as a NA car. No contest. Now I will get off my

ditto... The 996 is going to nosedive in value and the TT will be like a rock. Plus the 996 is a bore to drive compared to the TT, and no contest in the looks department and, and , and..........

"TT" is a little Audi. Buy the '96 911 Turbo.

Greg,

Our last year of the 993 C2S was 1998...

Hmmm.....so quantity (400 HP) wins out over quality (immaculate, loaded, low mileage C2S) then?

Yes,

If it were up to me, the 993 TT would get the nod outta these two choices (and a couple sweet choices they are ).

Enjoy.

Doug,

$60k for a 30k miles (low mileage) 993TT is a good deal (assuming that it passes the PPI w/o major problems).

I'd go with the 993TT

Turbo is hard to beat but I believe the C2S is probably a lower production & more collectible. I've been kicking myself over the C2S for 5 years. I should have bought one & had a great car all this time for very little depreciation. Tough choice but I think I would lean towards the C2S because of future value & I'm a 2 wheel drive guy. Good Luck

Would it make any difference if the C2S was a 99.5 out of 100 and the Turbo was a 85/100?

I like the color of the C2S but not the Turbo.

DC,

You say the Turbo is in "good" condition, while the C2S is "pristine." What do you mean by "good"? The Turbo sounds like a more interesting car (though I prefer the standard Carrera over the S), but if it's not in the kind of condition you want, perhaps you should keep looking.

Doug,

This is just my personal opinion, but if I am about to spend $60k for a car, I will certainly get the color that I want.

This is all very dependent on your definitions of "pristine" and "good".

However, if the conditions of the two cars are pretty close, even as the owner of an Arctic Silver '98 C2S (and I LOVE my car), I'd opt for the turbo. I don't like the 993 turbo tail though.

Now that there have been some responses, I will share some additional thoughts.

I am leaning towards the C2S because of condition, mileage and color. It is also the car I think of first...

The Turbo has a great deal of appeal for obvious reasons but am concerned about quality (C2S) v.s. quantity (Turbo). I am leaning towards the belief that a pristine "lesser" car is more valuable (assuming a similar price point) than a "greater" car in less than perfect condition.

FWIW, I renewed my Rennlist membership before taking up all this bandwidth...<grin>.

Doug,

The moral of the story... get the car you want in the color you want. Either way, you will be very happy.
