Where did the term "Garage Queen" originate from?
Always wondered the term "Garage Queen" and its real meaning !!
Is it only for cars that do not get out and see the blue skies above?

The saying is older then dirt and probably unattributable.
In the flying community the term is "hangar queen".
Basically the term is applied to machines whose owners deprive them of their intended purpose, for whatever reason. Cars that are garage queens are more acceptable, since preservation is often the reason. Airplanes that are hangar queens are much, much worse, as it often indicates the owner does not currently posess the ***** to go fly the damn thing.
The only garage queen at my house is my wife... as in "Honey, why don't you go put on that little outfit I just bought you."

Jim
I think it was from WWII.
Being from Va, you probably know of Jim Tullius.
He has the most amazing hangar at the Sebring Airport, full of warbirds and his old Group 44 and IMSA race cars.

It's Bob Tullius of Group 44 fame. Understandable mistake since you were an AH guy, but I was a TR guy (3 of them) so I know such things.

Actually, no, he meant Jim Tullius, the guy that had a bunch of nice cars, but never drove any of them.

"Plus we all know that Triumphs are unreliable, rust, break down and are often abandonded in front yards."
Right you are, DJ. And Dan has all three of his Triumphs abandoned and rusting in his front yard.
But don't take that to mean that Dan is really JimBob. Dan always charges for his advice. As far as I know, JimBob never does.

Do not call Bob Tullius a JimBob. He was a bigger dog than me, for sure, probably a bigger dog than anyone that's reading this, too...
