Has anyone figured out a way to run an AUX to the factory cassette deck? Looking for options to play music off my IPhone while keeping the factory look. TIA.
Matt
Other than sending your CDR-210 to Becker in NJ and having them modify your head unit for an aux jack, I think you are left with FM modulator type solutions. Alternatively Tore sells a Becker Bluetooth unit that looks period correct.
I seem to recall there is a pinout for an auxiliary output for a power amp. It seems to me if the head is set to a point where there is no signal a replacement analog signal from the ear bud jack on the I-Pod can be injected into these pins to route it through the existing power amp in the radio. There is also sometimes a line level auxiliary pin input set on the head. If the power amp is external to the head the line between the head and the power amp can be tapped into. I also seem to recall Crutchfield makes all sorts of adapters to do this. As of last resort, an FM modulator cord for the I-Pod will let you tune it in on the FM band radio.
I would first take a picture of the back of the head unit and identify what pins are populated on the head unit's connection socket and a hookup legend is readily available as it is shared by many VW branded radios as well
You didn't mention whether you had the CD changer or not (it makes a difference in terms of your options).
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/ has a large selection of Becker-compatible adapters. Even the newer "universal" units plug directly between the antenna wire and the radio, so there is much less interference than the wireless style units. I've purchased a few adapters from them over the years, first for an iPhone, and more recently for Bluetooth. Their customer service is very helpful as well.
