From experience also, when the windshield in in wrong, the rubber seal doesn't seal and even with RTV & silicon, I still had rust in the windscreen channel that needed addressing also.

The cheapest fix is to get a new windshield fitted correctly (guaranteed - you'll know) and while you're at it protect that investment with a plastic screen coating, mine has paid for itself 2 times over at least.
What plastic screen coating did you use? Is it not susceptible to scratching by wipers or cleaning?

Default 993 windshield replacement . . . .

+1. A proper windshield replacement is key .....

Post new car delivery (10 '97) Porsche Cars N.A. replaced the coupes squeaking windshield 3 times within 8 months.

Fast forward a year or so, the coupe was at the factories Werk 1 facilities. While there the windshield was replaced; that was 17 years and 73,000 miles ago .. without a squeak. While hardly definitive .. but you get the idea. Find a true pro at 993 windshield replacement, and you're golden.

P.S., I too would like to hear from those whom have used the overlay plastic windshield strategy. What say you? I may follow suit after.

Not exactly sure of the brand as the Porsche specialist body shop that did the rust repair and fitted the new windshield contracted out the film but it was $500 installed. Worth every penny as I had a sizeable rock thrown up at me on the drive home - I would have bee really p!$$ed if I got a chip on the 1st day. A year in and there's no scratching at all. For the first 3months I was OCD and cleaned the windshield by hand but now I use the wipers to clean dust and bugs off.
There's a slight rainbow effect when driving into the sun but nothing distracting or annoying.
I've got a whole bunch of nicks in it now after a year and I'm thinking of getting it replaced so I can see how the glass is - there's no cracks or evidence of any glass damage.
Some of the rocks were big/loud enough to make me flinch.
Great product, strongly recommended.
