Hi Phil,

The Blinder system is a active laser cloaking system developed in Europe, effective against all laser in the US. Supposedly a very good system as reviewed by " Speed Laboratorys" and others http://www.blinder-laser-jammer.com/ , also legal in most states .

I'm interested in fellow "rennlisters" who may have practical experience with the product.

Default laser

There are only two units of which I am aware that are effective at laser protection: the Blinder and the Lidatek. I left food out one night and the little people installed a Lidatek in my car, but of course I haven't rendered it operative yet. I also have a friend who is a Blinder distributor, so if you want one, PM me and I will pass your name along. You must be on your toes to beat laser and react instantly. The Lidatek sends out a jamming signal and also announces the presence of laser, then shuts off. That should give you enough time to drop anchor. If it continued jamming, Smokey would know what was happening. I understand that you have only a few seconds so you must be paying attention. And a little bird told me it may be illegal in your state, so you should check before installing it.

If you are lucky, your V1 will announce the presence of laser and you may adjust your speed accordingly. But most likely, once laser is locked on to a car it is so narrow a beam that it won't scatter and alert others in the area.

I know this is a little off subject, but I was hit with laser a few months back, and my Bel gave me virtually no warning.

I had just gotten done doing an oil change, so I was just having an easy run down a 2 lane road, warming the car up so I could get a good reading on the oil level. I came over a small hill and my detector went berserk. Thankfully I wasn't speeding, but if I were I don't think I would have had time to slow down.

I guess my question would be, for a laser detector to be any use at all are you relying on "scatter" from a law enforcement official targeting a vehicle other than your own further up the road?

As far as I could tell my detector wouldn't have saved me from a ticket, it would have just informed me that it was indeed laser that I got busted with, not radar.

I don't have any experience with jammers, I just want to know if running a detector only is an exercise in futility.

as V1 site mentions...you have milliseconds to respond to laser warning (i think mike valentine mention 0.4 of a sec)...ie your getting a ticket in most cases......laser jammer is the only way to confidently survive being laser tagged...

Default Escort SRX

I've had the Escort SRX Detector/Jammer installed for a few months now. It's saved my a$$ twice. It detects Laser and the "Shifts" the laser back giving them a 0 reading. You do have just milliseconds to hit thew brakes, if you are speeding quite a bit.

...bumping this thread up

Ron - Any thoughts or feedback on the Likdatek (either yours or a "friend's")? I just came across a group buy on the new version and my curiosity got stirred again...

Cool lidatek

David:

If you are a police person, I have no thoughts whatsoever about the Lida......tek or whatever.

If you are not a police person, .........I can only say that the menehunes never finished the installation in my car. I guess I didn't put out enough food that night.

Seriously, the unit is not operative. I am in the process of searching for an electrical gremlin in the harness that actuates the windshield wipers if the license plate light is on. Actually, Devek is hard at work with that nasty little fella. No AC, no blower, no heat, no windshield wipers or washers, no climate control, and no license lights. So far I have escaped detection by the aforementioned Smokeys for the lights and wipers. So the unit has never actually been used in my car. Once this is over, it may be another matter particularly if I leave the state of California.

The other unit of a "friend" is claimed to actually work. My friend is a pro rally driver that prefers to operate at over 100 mph all the time. That gives only a few seconds response time.

I don't feel comfortable discussing anymore of this, but would answer a PM.
