Default How to repair a bent front jack point

The left front jack point of the car was bent this week. A street curb caused this unfortunate damage.
I suppose it should be carefully bent back into the original place/shape by a professional, right?

A professional what?

Jack up the front of the car with the right side on a stand and the left with the jack under the ctrl arm bushing knuclke.

Remove plastic trim from area.

Heat with oxy/ace torch to red hot

Pry bar back into shape.

Maybe even a MAP gas torch from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace would get the area red hot.

In the absence of a professional, this method will work .... jack pad rehab .... crude, but likely still effective a decade later.

The front left on mine was bent when I bought the car. I purchased a new one and had it welded on. 96450129700 is the part number I believe.

This is a common issue. For a quick fix jack up the car, remove wheel and under sill plastic trim plus wheel arch liner. Use a 4x4" block of wood cut to approx 8" long. Place wood against the damage and strike with a blow hammer will shift it back into position without damaging anything else. Paint if need be and you may need to reinforce with some welding. It's an hours or 2 job at best

Caution: Never use a MIG welder on any vehicle unless you disconnect the battery first. To do otherwise might "fry" some very expensive electronics. No problem with Oxy/Acetylene other than the danger of open flame and the close proximity of fuel lines.

As OJ's attorney would say if the jack fits (even with the bent jack point) you must consider not messing with it!

Am I the only schmuck who simply uses the jack point as the point on which I place a jack or stand? Do I care that it is tweaked? Does it affect how the car sits on the jackstand? Are there other things that could better consume my attention and time?? Or maybe it is just me...

My passenger side mount is distorted a little. Sucks to use it, as the plastic is deformed once the weight of car is sandwiched between. I would like to have it corrected, so I can readily place lift arm without constantly second guessing it's centered, on canted Jack point.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I'll make a try, maybe even replace both sides, if not too tricky to remove the current.

My previous 993 had that issue so I just used the rear jacking point. It raises the whole side of the car anyway.

For those looking a purchasing a used Porsche it sounds like a good thing to check prior to purchasing based on the number of problems reported here.
